Job Description:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, or related field required

Work Experiences:

  • 7+ years of experience in large retail environment, consumer package goods, or advertising agency that serves Fortune 500 companies
  • 2+ years of management experience with strong people development background
  • Must have working knowledge of consumer and competitive insights, business analysis, and seasonal sales strategies, while managing workflow of supporting specialist(s) and coordinator(s)

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with individuals at various levels, both internal and external, including vendors, directors, and executive officers
  • Ability to remain organized, pay strict attention to detail, and meet critical deadlines within a high volume, fast-paced environment

  • Consistently operate with the highest level of discernment and confidentiality

Responsibilities:

  • Primarily responsible for building alignment with the Senior Vice President-GMMs in the development and implementation of marketing strategies for two merchandise divisions and all supporting categories
  • Ensure Category Marketing Specialists and the Divisional Merchandising Manager(s) align on Marketing priorities, category positioning, and key consumer messages that lead to the development and execution of Category Marketing briefs
  • Drive alignment of seasonal sales strategies, category priorities, key campaign messages and customer initiatives through submission of seasonal marketing briefs
  • Work with Sr Director Category Marketing to create centralized go-to-market plan
  • Serve as category central communication point for Tier 1 planning and execution to downstream marketing channels
  • Lead in identifying, exploring, evaluating, and recommending new opportunities in support of division objectives – from customer solutions to marketing and promotional initiatives
  • Maintain knowledge of industry competitive and best in class marketing for assigned division(s) and overarching business categories
  • Drive accountability in GTM Marketing Calendars and item submission processes to ensure the most efficient workflow to keep projects on track while meeting production deadlines
  • Oversee Category Specialists and partner with 3rd party agency on production and proofing of weekly advertising materials
  • Cross-functional leadership of marketing projects for assigned divisions including product launches, sales action plans, promotions, and clearance exercises
  • Actively assist Sr. Director Category Marketing in the people leader development and coaching of any new Manager Category Marketing team member
  • Oversees planning and execution of the annual co-op budget and ensures monthly budgeting deadlines are met
  • Acquires and develops supporting team members in line with Talent Brand Promise
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Academy's policies, procedures, and safety rules
  • Duties may change; team members may be required to perform other duties as assigned
