About the Role

Since 1963, Alcoa has been part of the Australian community and since 1978 we have provided tours of our WA operations to share knowledge and educate the public, interested groups and students on the transformational process from mining bauxite to extracting alumina before it becomes the world's metal of choice – aluminium, a key element in our everyday.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Community Education Officer to join our Corporate Affairs team located at our Bindjareb office, in the beautiful Peel region of WA, on a part-time basis (24 hours per week) for a 12-month period.

In this role, you will plan and conduct tours of our WA bauxite mines and alumina refineries, informing visitors on our operations, activities, and achievements. You will also be responsible for:

  • Building and maintaining the business knowledge and processes required to conduct up-to-date tours safely and successfully.

  • Building, maintaining, and delivering relevant plans, documentations, communication, and support tools required to deliver in-person and online tours including procedures, speaking notes, routes, written materials, merchandise, presentations, Q&As, and interactive tools to increase engagement.

  • Monitor and measure the progress and effectives of our WA tour program and provide recommendations for improvements where required.

What you can bring to the role

  • Experience in similar education, community relations, communications, or tourism roles.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills to develop, maintain and deliver in-person and online tours to various stakeholders.

  • Strong administrative skills and an ability to plan and prioritise multiple projects and activities effectively.

  • Microsoft office proficiency.

  • Current WA Drivers' Licence.

  • Knowledge of the bauxite-alumina-aluminium industry and Alcoa's geographical and sociopolitical setting in WA would be advantageous.
