About the Role:

  • Ensures the efficient and timely FEL requirements for all projects are met.

  • Lead the development and implementation of a total safety culture for Project Delivery at the location, and role model desired safety behaviors. Ensure that all project activities and deliverables are completed in accordance with Alcoa's safety philosophy/procedures and objectives.

  • Ensuring compliance with Alcoa authorization procedures and Audit compliance with the project delivery process.

  • Ensures an annual capital plan is developed and maintains a strategic plan for the Alumar' s capital needs over the longer term.

  • Deliver all agreed location capital/major expense projects and engineering services as per agreed budgets and schedules. Consulting with key customer groups to develop budgets and project priorities.

  • Ensure project delivery processes are consistently applied at the location and work with other Capital Program Managers, AHEA Alliance Manager, and Alcoa Capital Planning and Control Manager to ensure uniformity across all locations.

  • Ensures an adequate level of, and appropriately skilled, resources are applied to meet the locations capital plan and engineering service requirements. This will contribute to the effective development of the Front End processes and enable project milestones to be met.

  • Build strong and sustainable customer relationships and other key customer representatives, such as Alcoa's preferred construction contractors in order to deliver the locations business outcomes.

  • Ensure timely reporting of Capital project progress and forecast to Location Management. This includes ensuring the change control process is effectively and efficiently managed to ensure all projects are managed to RFA approval criteria.

What you can bring to this role:

  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Mechanical / Electrical / Structural / Civil or Mine engineering)

  • Experience in an engineering field with extensive project management experience

  • Solid experience in people management / contract management and capital projects

  • Experience in the alumina, aluminum, residue areas or a heavy industry considered acceptable

  • Post Graduate Business or Project Management studies would be favorable

  • Mandatory knowledge in PMI and IPA

  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of the scope of work in construction, engineering, procurement, project controls and financial, including their interfaces and interdependencies acquired through managing complex projects.

  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills coupled to previous engineering management or supervisory experience. Business and customer focus perspective.

  • Mandatory - Fluent in English with strong written and verbal English communication skills

The Alumar Consortium, managed by Alcoa, located 25 kilometers from the center of São Luís - MA, began its operations in 1984. It is made up of companies with a tradition in the areas of alumina and aluminum production, with different participations in the two factories that make up the Complex.
