The Global Energy Consultant develops and maintains models and information to analyze and support long-term energy resource decisions and create detailed financial profiles. This role will support the Regional Energy Directors as well as Alcoa on a corporate level to develop and build interdepartmental consensus on analytical approaches and related critical assumptions that will shape the Company's participation in long-term energy markets, including policy issues that will impact the Company's long-term resource strategy. The incumbent is expected to possess project manager skills, handling activities relatively independently. Main responsibilities:
  • Develops comprehensive financial models and various ad-hoc strategic analyses.
  • Visualizes complex energy, financial, and modeling data and be able to tell the data story to broad stakeholder groups in simple terms. Stakeholders include Investor Relations, CCO, Sustainability, and other functions.
  • Developing Alcoa carbon trading strategy under the supervision of the direct manager.
  • Develop a framework for Alcoa's participation in capacity markets globally, under the supervision of the direct manager.
  • Develop a “technology watch” including capex, opex for new energy-related technology, under the supervision of the direct manager
  • Plans and performs long-term resource analysis to support planning and decisions.         
  • Coordinates with internal teams to perform power cost, margin, and risk analysis.
  • Promotes best practices of modeling techniques, methodologies, controls, and documentation.
  • Effectively communicates results of research and analyses both written and in presentations.
  • Pursues global alignment between regions as per company requirements.
  • Ensures internal and external customers have accurate and timely information.
  • Provide up to date and accurate information and reports to the business as required.
  • Provide the Regional Energy Directors support to internal and external auditors.
  • Process improvement identification and implementation where possible
Requirements:
  • Experience in energy related industry involving performance of complex analysis and/or relevant analyst experience from industrial/commodity companies
  • English Level (reading, speaking and writing): Fluent
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Math, or related field. Master's Degree and/or MBA preferred
  • Experience building complex spreadsheets to analyze questions
  • Demonstrated ability to be supportive team member
  • Strong written, interpersonal, and group communication skills
  • Experience analyzing risk
  • Proactivity, precision, concentration, good communication skills, independent work
  • Good problem solving and communication ability, customer focus
