About the Role:

Alcoa is seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Operational Risk & Assurance Manager to drive the effective implementation of our Risk Management Standard and ensure compliance with Australian WHS legislation. This role is pivotal in identifying risk management shortfalls and implementing strategies across our Australian locations to meet health and safety objectives and targets.

Reporting to the Regional Health and Safety Director, the role involves implementing the EHS Risk Management Standard across Alcoa Australia locations. You will collaborate with multi-disciplined teams advising on system implementation and improvements, leading development initiatives with clear goals and milestones.

Key activities in this role are to:

  • Provide operational risk management guidance to leaders across the Australian business.

  • Advise Senior Site Executives on training and development in critical risk management roles.

  • Support local Health and Safety professionals and initiate risk management activities, including workshops and governance deliverables.

  • Implement the H&S Risk Management Standard and framework for critical risk control.

  • Influence and build relationships with senior managers to provide integrated technical and strategic advice.

  • Oversee H&S monitoring systems, participate in organizational reviews, and drive risk mitigation efforts.

  • Lead and facilitate risk workshops and oversee the Corporate Governance Risk (CGR) program.

What you can bring to the role

  • Demonstrated experience in H&S Risk Management roles.

  • Bachelor degree or Post Graduate qualification in H&S Management.

  • Working knowledge from positions in Mining, Refining, Smelting, and metal production is desirable; wider industry experience is also considered.

  • In-depth knowledge of WHS Acts and Regulations.

  • Proven experience in auditing, inspections, and investigations.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with multi-disciplined teams.
