THE ROLE

 

This is a key opportunity in AMD's Data Center Platform Engineering team within the Datacenter Solutions Group. The Director, Strategic Partnerships and Business Planning for AI Infrastructure is a leader experienced in driving and negotiating our business success with tier 1 customers and cloud service providers. The role requires deep engagement with engineering, sales, and customer success teams to drive strategic relationships, revenue growth, and ensure successful business planning for deployment of AMD technologies in AI and cloud environments. This role reports directly to a VP and is a people leadership opportunity.  

 

THE PERSON

 

This is a high-impact role with direct influence over AMD's strategic engagements with tier 1 customers, cloud providers, and AI innovators. You bring a mix of technical proficiency, strategic thinking, operational excellence, and strong cross-functional communication skills.  The ideal candidate for this role will be a self-directed, high-output individual with a background in technology hardware business planning and data analytics. You will navigate a fast-paced, constantly changing environment, adapting your communication style to various audiences at all levels including executive leadership to make data-driven recommendations that have technical, business, and financial impact. You possess the ability to build positive partnerships with executives and across teams to deliver insights, recommendations and reports on a timely, regular basis.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Drive strategic relationships, negotiations, and engagements with key CSPs, tier 1 customers, and AI thought leaders through deep understanding of AMD AI business and financial implications, in combination with proven ability to synthesize comprehensive overall hardware + software solution agreements with industry leading companies
  • Structure joint-development agreements, statements of work, and milestones, translating engineering requirements into commercial terms
  • Outline and operationalize strategic business targets aligned with corporate and business unit level goals
  • Handle IP ownership, licensing, data rights, security, warranties, and liability
  • Collaborate and coordinate engineering, product, finance, procurement, security, and legal teams
  • Maintaining executive-level cloud service provider (CSP) relationships and escalation paths

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

 

  • Demonstrated experience assessing technical and business trade-offs for ROI
  • Understanding of where technology is heading and how to use it to make an impact on driving customer interest
  • Solid experience and thorough understanding of datacenter, modular datacenter (MDC) and channel business models
  • Strong passion for winning!
  • Successful experience managing pricing, joint-development agreements, customer portfolio/roadmaps alignment, driving design wins, sell-in and sell-out enablement and crafting overall account strategies
  • Extensive experience in business development or product management within the IT infrastructure industry
  • History of executive level interactions in business and technical domains, including demonstrated written and verbal communication skills presenting to internal AMD and external audiences including customers, technical experts, and senior executives
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a strong collaborative style, and experience to lead, influence and project manage global cross functional teams
  • Possess a network of industry relationships with potential partners, competitors, customers and thought leaders
  • Strategic thinker with a high level of integrity and strong work ethic
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS

 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, Law, or a related discipline
  • MBA preferred 

 

LOCATION

 

  • Austin, TX
  • May be open to considering NY/NJ area, Seattle WA, or Bay Area, CA
