We are seeking a Software Development Manager to lead a high-impact Software Performance Engineering (SPE) team based in Europe. This team focuses on improving real-world software performance across modern computing platforms, including CPU, GPU, and AI/ML workloads. 

This role combines people leadershiptechnical program ownership, and hands-on project oversight, with responsibility for delivering measurable performance improvements and driving collaboration across global engineering, architecture, and partner teams. 

 Team Leadership & People Management 

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 10–15 performance engineers across Europe 
  • Drive hiring, onboarding, and career development aligned with SPE growth objectives 
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on technical excellence, accountability, and execution 
  • Provide regular feedback, coaching, and performance management 

 

Program & Project Ownership 

  • Own delivery of multiple concurrent development and optimization projects 
  • Define project scope, timelines, and success criteria tied to benchmark and application performance improvements 
  • Ensure consistent execution against milestones, with clear tracking and reporting 
  • Balance strategic initiatives with near-term deliverables 

 

Technical Leadership 

  • Guide the team in performance analysis, bottleneck identification, and optimization strategies 
  • Ensure strong grounding in: 
  • Application performance profiling and analysis 
  • Benchmark development and validation 
  • System-level and hardware/software co-optimization 
  • Partner with architecture and silicon teams to translate insights into product impact 
  • Promote data-driven decision-making and reproducible performance results 

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Collaborate with global SPE teams across US, India, and Europe to align priorities and execution 
  • Work closely with: 
  • Internal architecture and platform teams 
  • External ISVs and ecosystem partners 
  • Drive co-engineering efforts to improve performance in real-world applications and benchmarks  

Strategic Impact 

  • Contribute to defining SPE priorities in areas such as: 
  • Competitive performance analysis 
  • Benchmark strategy and methodology 
  • Ecosystem and open-source optimization efforts 
  • Identify opportunities to expand impact across new workloads, platforms, and partners 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • 8+ years of experience in software development, with strong focus on performance engineering or systems programming 
  • 3+ years of experience managing or leading engineering teams 
  • Strong technical background in: 
  • C/C++ or systems-level programming 
  • Performance profiling and optimization techniques 
  • Operating systems and modern CPU architecture concepts 
  • Proven track record delivering complex engineering projects 

 

Preferred Experience 

  • Experience in performance domains such as: 
  • CPU/GPU optimization 
  • Benchmarking and workload analysis 
  • Browser, OS, or application performance 
  • Familiarity with tools such as profilers, performance analyzers, and benchmarking frameworks 
  • Experience working with global and distributed teams 
  • Exposure to open-source ecosystems and ISV collaboration 

 

Leadership Profile 

  • Results-oriented leader with strong execution discipline 
  • Able to operate at both technical depth and organizational scale 
  • Strong communicator capable of aligning diverse stakeholders 
  • Comfortable managing ambiguity and scaling teams in a growing organization
