THE ROLE:

The Liquid Cooling Engineer will lead supplier New Product Introduction (NPI) and quality execution for advanced liquid‑cooled server platforms. This role is responsible for ensuring supplier readiness, manufacturing process robustness, and product reliability across EVT, DVT, and PVT stages. The engineer will work cross‑functionally with design, thermal, quality, manufacturing, procurement, and global suppliers to deliver high‑quality liquid cooling solutions that meet performance, reliability, and schedule requirements.

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate is a technically strong, detail‑oriented engineer with hands‑on experience in liquid cooling systems and supplier manufacturing processes. This person is proactive, data‑driven, and comfortable leading cross‑functional discussions with suppliers and internal stakeholders. They possess strong problem‑solving skills, thrive in fast‑paced NPI environments, and can balance technical depth with program execution to drive results.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead technical, quality, and process audits of liquid cooling module suppliers, evaluating manufacturing capability, cleanliness controls, and process maturity.
  • Drive supplier NPI readiness for liquid cooling components (cold plates, manifolds, hoses, quick connectors, pumps), ensuring alignment with DFM, quality standards, and build schedules.
  • Define, review, and approve PFMEAs, control plans, SPC, and process capability metrics for critical processes such as brazing, welding, leak testing, pressure testing, and assembly.
  • Partner with thermal, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams to qualify new suppliers, materials, and processes through EVT, DVT, and PVT stages.
  • Develop inspection strategies, test fixtures, and reliability screening plans, including pressure cycling, burst testing, thermal shock, and corrosion testing.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action (RCCA) for quality, yield, and reliability issues using structured problem‑solving methodologies.
  • Monitor key quality KPIs and provide regular data‑driven updates to internal stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate supplier and program risks related to capacity, capability, material availability, and schedule.
  • Support PPAP planning, execution, and approval for NPI and sustaining programs.
  • Engage suppliers through regular reviews, audits, and performance tracking to ensure accountability and continuous improvement.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in thermal management, liquid cooling systems, or mechanical process engineering within the server or data center hardware industry.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of liquid cooling manufacturing processes, including brazing, welding, machining, sealing, and pressure/leak testing.
  • Experience with high‑power server cooling solutions such as direct‑to‑chip, CDU/CDM, or immersion cooling.
  • Strong understanding of material compatibility and corrosion control (e.g., Cu/Al systems, Ni plating, DI water, glycol mixtures).
  • Familiarity with supplier quality systems, PPAP, PFMEA, SPC, and Cp/Cpk analysis.
  • Experience with reliability and environmental testing methodologies.
  • Proven ability to work with Asia‑based suppliers; Mandarin proficiency is a strong plus.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Thermal Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
