PCB Layout & System Validation Engineer

THE ROLE: 

The right engineer will drive the success of power IP (Intellectual Property) and features in AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) products through leadership & coordination, resolution of technical dependencies, and achievement of schedule commits. This is a high-visibility and widely multi-functional role, spanning pre-silicon architecture to post-silicon implementation & product delivery.  

THE PERSON: 

Join AMD's Virtual Bring-Up (VBU) team as an experienced Board/System Design and System Validation Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Board design, system validation, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality electronic products. With 10+ years of experience, you will play a critical role in designing, testing, and validating complex electronic systems to ensure they meet our rigorous standards and customer requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Design and develop printed circuit boards (PCBs) for various electronic systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including PCB Layout, software, and mechanical engineers, to define system requirements and specifications.
• Perform system validation and testing to ensure product functionality, reliability, and performance meet design specifications.
• Utilize advanced simulation and modeling tools to predict system behavior and optimize design performance.
• Lead design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and design teams.
• Troubleshoot and resolve design and validation issues, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in PCB design and system validation.
• Document design processes, validation results, and technical reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Support the transition of products from design to manufacturing, ensuring seamless integration and production readiness.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

• Diploma/ Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in board design and system validation, preferably in a high-tech industry.
• Proficiency in PCB design software such as Cadence Allegro, or Mentor Graphics.
• Strong understanding of electronic components, circuit design, and signal integrity.
• Experience with system validation tools and methodologies, including automated testing frameworks.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

• Experience with high-speed digital design and complex datacenter platform design.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards such as FCC, CE, and UL.
