THE ROLE:
We are looking for a motivated CPU Performance Software Engineer to join our team, working alongside highly experienced engineers to improve the performance of applications and benchmarks running on industry-leading AMD EPYC CPUs. You will be responsible for executing performance tuning, analyzing workloads to identify bottlenecks, and contributing to the development of performance benchmarks and tools. Your work will directly impact the optimization of our high-performance CPU technologies.
THE PERSON:
As a CPU Performance and Benchmark Engineer, you will be a key contributor to optimizing application-level performance. You will apply your analytical skills to conduct in-depth performance analysis, characterize workloads, and pinpoint areas for improvement in both hardware and software. We are looking for a collaborative team player with a strong interest in CPU architecture and a passion for solving complex performance challenges.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contribute to performance tuning and optimization efforts for applications running on AMD EPYC CPUs.
- Analyze and identify performance bottlenecks through workload characterization and profiling on silicon and performance simulators.
- Assist in the development and enhancement of performance benchmarks, tools, and scripts.
- Develop an understanding of CPU architecture, memory hierarchy, and I/O subsystems to help identify and resolve performance issues.
- Collaborate effectively with architects, designers, and OS teams to implement improvements.
- Stay informed about software and hardware trends in cloud computing and performance engineering.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- 3+ years of programming/scripting experience (e.g., C/C++, Python, Perl).
- Solid understanding of CPU architecture and microarchitecture (pipelines, caches, MMUs).
- Experience with industry-standard benchmarks (e.g., SPECCPU2017) and profiling tools (e.g., Vtune, perf, oprofile).
- Familiarity with performance optimization at the firmware, BIOS, kernel, or application level.
- Experience working in a Linux environment for development and performance analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field.
