The Role:
AMD Advanced Rendering and Engineering is a group of cross-disciplinary teams working at the intersection of graphics research and productization. Our mission is to create cutting-edge software to equip developers and publishers with the tools they need to build immersive, high-performance games optimized for AMD hardware.
The person:
We're looking for an experienced software engineer with a passion for realizing the full potential of breakthrough and emerging technologies. Candidates must have a strong technical background in GPU/APU programming, C++, and machine learning. Also essential to the role is the ability to collaborate both in and across teams, and knit together information from a range of specialist domains. Successful candidates will have significant influence over the technical direction, and the opportunity to start from first principles on new projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with research engineers to transform proof-of-concept prototypes into mature products at a very high level of quality.
- Collaborate with external game development partners to integrate these technologies into their titles.
- Optimize, extend, package and document high-level compute shader and C++ code.
Preferred Experience:
- Computer science background with sufficient experience writing efficient, high-level shader code (HLSL SM6, GLSL, Slang, etc.) and modern C++ (17 and up)
- Knowledge of real-time rendering and graphics algorithms.
- Excellent written and verbal English skills.
- Knowledge of applied mathematics, especially linear algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
- Knowledge of modern game console and desktop GPU architectures
- Willing to occasionally travel, both domestically and internationally.
Desirable Experience:
Working understanding of low-level machine learning concepts and design patterns including automatic differentiation, computational graphs, tensor broadcasting, etc.
Experience working with modern machine learning libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.)
Knowledge of physically based rendering algorithms (sampling and shading, light transport, etc.)
Experience with modern graphics APIs such as DirectX 12 or Vulkan.
Experience shipping AAA game titles.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
Post-doctorate, PhD, Bachelor, or Master of Science degree or equivalent work experience. Emphasis on computer science, computer engineers, or applied mathematics with relevant experience preferred.
