THE ROLE:
The engineer will work on AMD's SOC components and ASIC/FPGA-based PCIe accelerator cards designed to accelerate compute-intensive applications like machine learning, data analytics, and video processing.
THE PERSON:
The engineer should have an Electrical or Electronics background with good foundation on circuit analysis. He/She should possess a good debug and diagnostics skills and understanding of root cause analysis techniques. Good written and verbal communication in English is important as the engineer will interface with different engineering departments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Setup system and component level testing and diagnostic capabilities for SOCs and FPGAs
- Electrical fault isolation of components as well as board level failure analysis
- Design system-level tests and applications for AMD products
- Develop novel techniques on fault isolation to improve diagnostic capabilities
- Generate hypothesis and able to come up with experiments and electrical tests to prove the hypothesis for observed failures
- Run root cause analysis, resolve quality issues and drive for improvements on AMD products
- Provide technical support on device-related inquiries and generate reports for customer cases
- Drive key projects / initiatives by working jointly with partners
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- 8+ years of experience in semiconductor design/development/debug.
- Knowledge on one or more: SOC, X86/ARM Processor, FPGA, System design
- Knowledge in debug and diagnostics, electrical failure mode and mechanism
- Experience in SOC and FPGA application development and debug is a plus
- Circuit analysis and logic design knowledge is a must
- Good programming skills on one or more: C/C++/Verilog/VHDL/ Tcl/Perl/Python/Unix shells
- Working knowledge of Linux environment
- Possesses a good understanding of root cause analysis techniques
- Good written and verbal communication in English
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- BS in Electrical or Electronics with 8 plus years of work experience or
- MS in Electrical or Electronics with 6 plus years of work experience or
- PhD in Electrical or Electronics with 4 plus years of work experience
