AMD together we advance_

THE ROLE:
We are looking for a Rack Firmware Architect with deep expertise in embedded systems and platform firmware development, especially in hyperscale server or data center environments. As part of this role, the architect will drive the design and development of firmware features that support high-availability, scalable rack-level systems. You will work closely with platform architects, hardware engineers, system integrators, and firmware developers across AMD and partner ecosystems to deliver reliable and performant rack-level solutions.

THE PERSON:
You are a passionate and forward-thinking firmware expert with a strong architectural mindset. You thrive on solving complex systems problems at scale, with a hands-on approach to firmware development and debug. You excel in cross-functional environments, demonstrate technical leadership, and are able to influence and guide both internal teams and external partners with clear, strategic communication.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Architect and guide the development of rack-level firmware solutions, including system management controllers, BMCs, and telemetry
  • Lead cross-functional technical discussions and decision-making for firmware architecture, design trade-offs, and integration.
  • Define system-level requirements and influence hardware designs for robust firmware implementation.
  • Lead firmware bring-up and debugging on complex rack-level systems.
  • Drive adoption of industry standards (e.g., Redfish, PLDM, MCTP, PMCI) for manageability and interoperability.
  • Mentor and support firmware development teams across geographies and IP domains.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Extensive experience in embedded firmware development, system management software, and rack-scale architecture in data center or hyperscale environments.
  • Strong understanding of platform architecture, security, bootloaders, and out-of-band management (e.g., BMC, Redfish).
  • Hands-on experience with SoC initialization, BIOS/UEFI, system controllers, and low-level hardware interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, etc.).
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale firmware initiatives from concept to deployment.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in pre-silicon and post-silicon environments.
  • Familiarity with open-source firmware projects (e.g., OpenBMC, coreboot) is a plus.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
