SILICON DESIGN ENGINEER 2

 

THE ROLE:

AMD is seeking a highly motivated Silicon Design Engineer 2 to join our engineering team working on next-generation adaptive computing solutions. The selected candidate will contribute to the design, development, integration, and validation of FPGA and AI Engine based platforms, collaborating closely with architecture, software, verification, and system teams. This role provides an opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies in FPGA, AI Engine (AIE), RTL design, system integration, and performance optimization across a wide range of applications.

 

 

THE PERSON:

You have a passion for modern, complex architecture, digital design, validation, and verification in general. You are a team player who has excellent communication skills. You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and are willing to learn and ready to take on problems. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, develop, and debug RTL modules using VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog.
  • Develop and integrate FPGA and AI Engine (AIE) based solutions using AMD Vivado and Vitis tool flows.
  • Perform functional verification, simulation, debugging, and performance analysis of complex digital designs.
  • Collaborate with architecture and software teams to define and implement hardware-software co-design solutions.
  • Analyze design performance, identify bottlenecks, and drive optimization efforts.
  • Support board bring-up, system integration, and silicon validation activities.
  • Develop automation scripts using Python, Tcl, Bash, or similar scripting languages to improve engineering productivity.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to technical discussions across cross-functional teams.
  • Document design methodologies, implementation details, and validation results.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 2–5 years of experience in digital design, FPGA development, or ASIC/SoC design.
  • Strong understanding of digital design fundamentals and hardware design methodologies.
  • Experience with VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog RTL development.
  • Experience with simulation and debugging tools.
  • Knowledge of FPGA development flows using AMD/Xilinx Vivado.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Tcl, or Bash.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering with optional Wireless Communication background, or related field.
  • Experience with AMD AI Engine (AIE) development and Vitis tool flow (Optional).
  • Familiarity with embedded systems and hardware-software co-design.
  • Experience with performance optimization, profiling, and system-level debugging.
  • Knowledge of DSP, signal processing, networking, wireless communications, or acceleration applications.
  • Exposure to Linux-based development environments.
  • Knowledge of FPGA prototyping and board-level debugging.
