THE ROLE:
AMD is seeking a Senior Commercial Sales Account Executive – Australian Federal Government to join the Commercial Sales organisation, based in Canberra (ACT).
This is a senior, strategic, customer‑facing role responsible for driving AMD's commercial outcomes across Australian Federal Government departments, agencies, and statutory authorities, spanning client, server, data centre, cloud, high‑performance computing (HPC), AI acceleration, and GPU solutions.
The role is accountable for executive‑level engagement, whole‑of‑government opportunity development, and long‑range account execution, aligning AMD's technology portfolio to government mission outcomes, policy objectives, and sovereign capability requirements.
The Account Executive owns the end‑to‑end Federal Government account strategy, from early mission and architecture influence through procurement, partner orchestration, and multi‑year execution. Success requires deep collaboration with internal AMD stakeholders and the Federal Government ecosystem, including OEMs, systems integrators, cloud service providers, and channel partners.
This position is Canberra‑based and requires regular in‑person engagement with Federal Government stakeholders, partners, and industry forums.
THE PERSON:
You are a senior Federal Government sales leader with a strong track record of engaging CxO and Senior Executive Service (SES) stakeholders in complex, policy‑driven environments.
You are credible at both the executive and technical architecture level, able to translate government mission requirements into secure, scalable, and cost‑effective technology strategies using AMD platforms. You are comfortable navigating formal governance, probity, and procurement frameworks, while maintaining commercial momentum across long sales cycles.
You bring the ability to lead virtual account teams, influence without authority, and coordinate multi‑party engagements across AMD, partners, and government stakeholders. You are commercially disciplined, resilient, and highly structured, with the patience and judgement required to succeed in multi‑year Federal Government programs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Federal Government Account Ownership & Growth
- Own and grow revenue, pipeline, and strategic footprint across assigned Australian Federal Government departments and agencies, leveraging both direct and partner‑led go‑to‑market motions
- Develop a deep understanding of agency missions, ICT strategies, cyber and data sovereignty requirements, policy drivers, and budget cycles
- Position AMD as a long‑term strategic technology partner, supporting whole‑of‑government and agency‑specific initiatives rather than transactional product sales
Account Strategy, Planning & Execution
- Develop and execute multi‑year Federal Government account plans, including:
- Opportunity prioritisation and timing against budget and procurement cycles
- Executive and technical stakeholder mapping
- Partner and ecosystem strategy
- Lead cross‑functional Account Squads (sales specialists, solution architects, marketing, partners) to execute the strategy, fully documented and governed in Salesforce (SFDC)
- Build and manage a robust, qualified pipeline, ensuring disciplined opportunity management, forecasting accuracy, and risk visibility
Executive, Architecture & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build trusted relationships with CIO, CTO, CISO, Chief Architect, SES Band 2–3 leaders, and senior procurement stakeholders
- Engage in architecture‑level and strategy discussions covering data centre modernisation, cloud adoption, AI/ML, secure compute, and sovereign capability
- Orchestrate executive‑to‑executive engagement between AMD leadership and Federal Government customers to support strategic initiatives
- Act as a strong internal advocate for Federal Government customers, escalating risks, blockers, and feedback to drive resolution
Partner & Ecosystem Leadership
- Lead coordinated engagement with systems integrators, OEMs, hyperscalers, sovereign cloud providers, and channel partners supporting Federal Government customers
- Evangelise AMD's server, client, GPU, and accelerator roadmaps to partner sales and technical teams through structured enablement and joint planning
- Maintain executive‑level relationships across the partner ecosystem to ensure aligned execution, clear ownership, and accountability
Operational Excellence & Governance
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, engineering, legal, finance, and operations to align AMD execution with Federal Government compliance, probity, and procurement frameworks
- Ensure high‑quality data integrity in Salesforce, including account plans, contact maps, opportunity stages, and activity tracking
- Discover, document, and maintain the client and server install base for assigned accounts in SFDC, updating quarterly using the Install Base feature
Performance & Compliance
- Achieve or exceed assigned revenue, pipeline, and strategic objectives across the Federal Government portfolio
- Execute sales motions in alignment with Commonwealth procurement rules, panel arrangements, security requirements, and partner frameworks
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Federal Government & Complex Enterprise Sales
- Demonstrated success selling into Australian Federal Government departments or large public sector organisations
- Proven ability to manage complex, multi‑stakeholder, long‑cycle sales engagements with formal governance and procurement
Strategic Account & Program Management
- Track record of developing and executing enterprise‑level, multi‑year account strategies
- Experience managing whole‑of‑government or multi‑agency initiatives involving multiple partners and solution domains
Partner‑Led Ecosystems
- Strong experience working with global OEMs, systems integrators, cloud providers, and sovereign delivery partners
- Ability to orchestrate partner‑led solutions while maintaining clear account ownership and commercial accountability
Technical & Commercial Credibility
- Solid understanding of data centre infrastructure, servers, GPUs, AI acceleration, cloud platforms, and commercial client computing
- Ability to position technology in terms of mission outcomes, security, performance, efficiency, and total cost of ownership, not features
