Role description
At AMD Silo AI we work at the forefront of AI development and we are looking for a person who can help us develop our engineering operations to the next level with a strong focus on the use of AI.
We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to craft, lead, and drive development initiatives within our engineering unit. This role is central to shaping how engineering teams work, collaborate and scale their operations effectively.
The Operations Manager acts as a strategic partner to engineering managers and ensures that teams have the right structures, tools, and practices in place to deliver high‑impact AI solutions.
Main responsibilities
- Design, lead, and drive development initiatives within the engineering unit to improve effectiveness, scalability, and delivery of AI solutions
- Support the development of engineering capabilities and skillsets, with a focus on the use of AI and modern software practices
- Enable alignment between engineering strategy, technical priorities, and business objectives
- Establish and evolve development practices, governance models, and ways of working that support high‑quality engineering outcomes
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, technical excellence, and collaboration across engineering teams
Collaboration with others
- This role reports to Operations Lead and is part of the Silo-wide Operations team responsible for operational excellence
- This role works closely with engineering leadership, team managers, and tech leads, supporting development initiatives across the unit
Main goals for first 6 months
- Complete onboarding into the Silo AI context, including 2026 focus areas, team structures, and existing ways of working
- Build a strong understanding of engineering unit strengths, gaps, and development needs, covering capabilities, skills, collaboration models, and tooling
- Identify and prioritize key development initiatives that improve engineering effectiveness, scalability, and use of AI across the board
- Craft clear development project plans with defined goals, scope, milestones, and success criteria
- Launch and begin executing selected high‑impact development initiatives, ensuring early momentum and visible progress
- Build strong, trust‑based relationships with engineering leaders, team managers and tech leads
Ideal candidate profile
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong background in engineering, software development, or AI‑driven technology environments
- Proven experience working closely with engineering teams and technical leaders
- Experience leading or driving development initiatives, transformations, or capability‑building efforts in a tech context
- Solid understanding of modern software engineering practices
- Excellent AI skills, incl. ability to automate and scale processes
- Ability to operate at both technical and organizational levels, translating business strategy and priorities into concrete development actions
- Strong communication and facilitation skills, especially in technical and multidisciplinary environments
- Comfortable working in complex, evolving settings with a high degree of autonomy
Bonus:
- Hands‑on experience as an engineer, technical lead, or architect earlier in your career
- Experience supporting scaling engineering organizations and/or working in a corporate environment
