Senior Software Development Engineer – Game Engineering (GPU Rendering)
THE ROLE
AMD is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer with deep expertise in GPU rendering to join our Game Engineering team. In this role, you'll work at the intersection of cutting-edge hardware and world-class game development, helping our partners ship the most visually stunning and high-performance games in the industry.
You'll collaborate directly with AAA game studios and AMD hardware architects to push the boundaries of graphics fidelity, performance, and efficiency on Radeon™ GPUs and AMD APUs.
THE PERSON
We're looking for a highly skilled software designer and rendering engineer—fluent in C/C++, strong in 3D math, and experienced in optimizing performance across discrete GPUs, APUs, and CPUs. You're a problem-solver who communicates effectively and thrives in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
KEY RESPOSIBILTIIES
- Collaborate with external game developers and publishers to optimize engines and game titles for AMD hardware (GPUs, APUs, CPUs).
- Partner with AMD architecture teams to provide feedback and insights that influence next-generation GPU design.
- Diagnose and optimize performance using profiling tools, shader tuning, and low-level performance analysis.
- Prototype and implement advanced rendering techniques to enhance visual quality and hardware efficiency.
- Support hardware bring-up and validation for new graphics ASICs.
- Lead technical discussions with internal teams and external partners, acting as a subject matter expert in rendering and GPU performance.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience working directly with game engines or AAA game titles.
- Familiarity with GPU driver architecture and command submission.
- Experience in hardware bring-up or low-level system validation.
- A passion for gaming and enthusiasm for shaping the future of real-time graphics.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent discipline.
