Description

ADVANCE YOUR CAREER. ADVANCE THE WORLD.

At AMD, we believe technology can change lives for the better. It can heal us, entertain us, and make us more connected, productive, and understanding of the world around us. And we're looking for talent who feel the same: people who want to leave the planet better than they found it, those who don't shy away from humanity's challenges but are determined to help solve them.

AMD is powering the next generation of supercomputing, high-performance computing, cloud, and AI. Whether you're designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or creating go-to-market plans, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger — technology that moves the world forward.

THE ROLE:

As a Core Debug Engineer, you will join AMD's cutting-edge silicon design team to help deliver our next generation of high-performance microprocessors. In this early-career role, you will work closely with experienced Design Verification and RTL engineers to verify complex design behaviors, identify bugs, and drive the design to convergence.

THE PERSON:

You are a curious, passionate engineer with a strong interest in modern, complex processor architecture, digital design, and verification. You are a natural problem-solver who embraces challenges and possesses a strong growth mindset. As a collaborative team player, you communicate effectively and are eager to learn from senior engineers while taking ownership of your individual contributions. You are highly motivated by personal achievement and thrive in a diverse, fast-paced team environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform pre-silicon verification of next-generation, high-performance microprocessor designs and related IPs.
  • Apply digital design theory to research, model, and verify complex hardware/RTL components.
  • Debug directed and random stimulus to identify bugs in the microprocessor design, ensuring functionality and strict conformance to architectural specifications.
  • Within the first 3 months: Successfully onboard and integrate with the verification team, familiarize yourself with AMD's design verification environment, tools, and workflows, and begin debugging basic directed tests.
  • Within the first 6 months: Take ownership of specific verification tasks, debug random stimulus to find bugs in the microprocessor design, and contribute to testbench development and automation scripts.
  • Within the first year and beyond: Independently drive verification convergence for specific IP blocks, collaborate closely with RTL designers to resolve complex logic bugs, and consistently reach milestone metrics with high-quality contributions.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Solid foundational knowledge of modern computer architecture, including processor pipelines and memory hierarchies.
  • Hands-on academic, project-level, or internship experience with logic design and Hardware Description Languages (Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL).
  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming for hardware modeling or testbench development.
  • Familiarity with hardware verification methodologies and techniques (e.g., simulation, debug, coverage, formal verification).
  • Familiarity with industry-standard EDA simulation and functional verification tools (e.g., Synopsys VCS, Cadence Xcelium, Siemens/Mentor Graphics Questa, ModelSim, or Vivado).
  • Experience working in Unix/Linux environments.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Perl, Ruby, or Bash to automate workflows.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is highly desired.

LOCATION:

  • Iasi, Romania (onsite)
