SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER -C++ / EDA
THE ROLE:
AMD is seeking a software engineer specializing in Electronic Design Automation (EDA) for FPGA implementation software (Vivado). In this role, you will design and develop cutting-edge tools to optimize FPGA implementation software. You will have the opportunity to shape future AMD technologies by improving EDA tool efficiency, scalability, and performance, potentially, through innovative applications of AI and ML.
THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong background in software development, a passion for advancing the state of FPGA implementation software, and a keen interest in integrating AI / ML techniques into EDA processes. They should possess excellent programming skills, an aptitude for problem-solving, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams. Prior experience or knowledge in ML/LLM applications is preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, develop, and optimize EDA software solutions for FPGA implementation software (Vivado).
- Debug, resolve, and refine existing features in Vivado, benchmarking every release for improvements.
- Validate new SW features before releasing them to customers
- Contribute to a high-functioning feature team
- Collaborate closely with multiple teams to deliver key planning solutions and the technology to support them
- Help contribute to the design and implementation of future architecture for a highly scalable, durable, and innovative system
- Work very closely with dev teams and Project Managers to drive results
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Expert knowledge and hands-on experience in C, C++
- Solid understanding of object-oriented-design principles
- Solid understanding of Software Engineering principles, Data structure, algorithms, Operating Systems concepts and multithread programming
- Excellent design and code development skills, familiarity with Linux and modern software tools and techniques for development
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Background in EDA software tools, preferably experience with Vivado or similar FPGA design software.
- Proficiency in applying ML/AI techniques to EDA or hardware optimization workflows is a plus.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
