Role Overview:

AMD is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Financial Accounting to join the EMEA Finance organization on a 12 to 15 month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.

This role reports directly to the Finance Director and is responsible for the financial accounting, statutory compliance, and controllership activities of a diverse portfolio of EMEA legal entities across Ireland, the Nordics, Benelux, and Eastern Europe.

 

The successful candidate will lead a small international team of finance professionals across multiple countries, ensuring accurate and timely US GAAP and Local GAAP reporting while driving process excellence, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced multinational environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Financial Reporting & Controllership

  • Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes for assigned EMEA entities.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting under US GAAP.
  • Oversee local statutory reporting requirements and preparation of annual financial statements.
  • Manage US GAAP to Local GAAP reconciliations and statutory bridge analyses.
  • Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations and key accounting judgments.
  • Ensure compliance with AMD accounting policies, SOX requirements, internal controls and transfer pricing agreements.
  • Partner closely with Corporate Accounting and Shared Services teams on accounting and reporting matters.

Statutory Compliance & External Reporting

  • Oversee statutory audits for assigned EMEA entities.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, local advisors, tax teams, and legal teams.
  • Ensure timely filing of statutory financial statements and regulatory submissions including R&D tax credits and grants.
  • Monitor changes in local accounting and regulatory requirements across the region.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop a geographically dispersed team comprising:
    • 2 direct reports in Dublin
    • 1 direct report in Spain
    • 1 direct report in Finland
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and technical accounting guidance.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture across multiple locations.

Process Improvement & Automation

  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and automate accounting processes.
  • Drive adoption of best practices across the EMEA accounting organization.
  • Leverage SAP S/4HANA, BlackLine, Workiva, Power BI, AI tools, and other technologies to improve efficiency and reporting quality.
  • Support broader EMEA finance transformation initiatives and organizational projects.

Business Partnership & Special Projects

  • Partner with Finance, Tax, Payroll, Treasury, Legal, HR, and Operations stakeholders.
  • Support legal entity restructuring, mergers, acquisitions, and business expansion projects as required.
  • Lead or contribute to ad hoc accounting, compliance, and operational improvement projects.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior finance leadership on EMEA accounting matters.

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

 

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Big 4 audit training is required.
  • Significant post-qualification experience within a multinational environment.
  • Strong technical accounting expertise across US GAAP and Local GAAP reporting.
  • Proven experience managing statutory audits and regulatory compliance in multiple European jurisdictions.
  • Experience leading and developing international teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Advanced knowledge of SAP S/4HANA.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience within the technology or semiconductor industry.
  • Exposure to SOX compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with BlackLine, Workiva, Power BI, automation tools, and AI-enabled finance solutions.
  • Experience supporting legal entity rationalization, integration, or transformation projects.
