THE ROLE: 

AMD's Data Center Platform Engineering Group (DPEG) is designing, building and delivering innovative technology infrastructure enabling the digital world.  We create AI-enabling rack server solutions that help the world's leading companies turn their ideas into reality. AMD is looking for a Software Development Engineer who has a focus on hardware to join our growing team. As a key contributor you will be part of a leading team to drive and enhance AMD's abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry-leading technologies to market.

 

THE PERSON: 

The ideal candidate possesses an innovative and problem-solving mindset, has a keen eye for software design and development, and is diligent and passionate about technology. A successful candidate will need to employ strong knowledge in computer technologies, leadership skills in technical areas, and SW engineering expertise. Additionally, a strong knowledge in datacenter scale hardware and commodities such as CPUs, GPUs, DPUs, and network switches will help the candidate succeed.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Develop and drive execution of comprehensive, highly effective software for sophisticated new technology and new product introduction projects
  • Validate new SW features before releasing them to customers 
  • Contribute to a high-functioning feature team 
  • Collaborate closely with multiple teams to deliver key planning solutions and the technology to support them 
  • Help contribute to the design and implementation of future architecture for a highly scalable, durable, and innovative system 
  • Work very closely with dev teams and Project Managers to drive results  

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • Experience developing production-ready code in languages such as Python, C, Rust, C++, C#, Java, Javascript, Shell/Bash, or Powershell.
  • Solid experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Containerd, and orchestration frameworks like Kubernetes or Slurm
  • Deep understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Hands-on work with system board interfaces (i.e. I2C, PCIE, IPMI, and Redfish hardware interfaces), and networked communication protocols (i.e. TCP/IP, UDP)
  • Strong understanding of software design principles, patterns, and best practices.
  • Previous experience in the hyperscale compute architecture space is not a requirement, but a significant plus
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and technologies is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment.

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
