Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc., is hiring Sr. Systems Design Engineer to Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory. Design a complete and complex framework, system or product. Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. Conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes. Identify, analyze and resolve system design weaknesses. Lead complex system debug efforts for customer/partner findings to identify root cause and Resolution. Improve debug capabilities and methodology over time by identifying common challenges or impediments to efficient debug and working with partner organizations to drive innovation in tools and methods. Track technical issues, risks and priorities, including managing customer and executive communications on program status, risks and opportunities. Provide debug, applications support, and design assistance to customers, and field applications. Debugging issues found during the process, bring-up, validation, and production phases of SOC programs. Influence the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems. Provide multi-layered technical expertise for next generation initiatives. Evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use. Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment, as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Qualifications: Degree required

Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field.

Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Two (2) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

 

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

Position requires two (2) years of experience in the following:

  • C, C++, Perl, Ruby, or Python;
  • Performing board- or platform-level debug;
  • Logic analyzers and oscilloscopes;
  • Test automation development and optimizing bench tests;
  • Analog and mixed signal circuit validation;
  • I/O (input/output) signals: I2C, SPI, or I3C;
  • Product development cycles in semiconductor industry; and
  • Git.
