AMD together we advance_

THE ROLE:

The engineer will work on AMD SOC, ASIC and FPGA debug and failure analysis on customer and factory failures to reproduce reported failures, isolate the cause of failure and work closely with cross-functional teams including design, validation, FW and manufacturing to drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality improvements.

THE PERSON:

He/She should possess a good debug and diagnostics skills and understanding of root cause analysis techniques to support AMD customer return debug including Automated Test Equipment (ATE), system-level-test (SLT) and IP level characterization for AMD Embedded x86 SOC. Implement product improvement activities to resolve quality issues, reduce cost and improve product quality. Good written and verbal communication skill is important as the engineer will interface with different engineering departments.

  • Debug and analyze customer returned failures leading to test, process improvements
  • Develop novel techniques on fault isolation in preparation for physical failure analysis
  • Generate hypothesis and able to come up with experiments and electrical tests to prove the hypothesis for observed failures
  • Interpret physical defect mechanisms and correlate with electrical failure isolated
  • Interface with foundry team and drive for wafer process improvement, requires strong wafer process knowledge, experience.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Deep understanding of device physics and semiconductor processing for advance technology nodes.
  • Strong background of wafer process management, statistical analysis and yield improvement.
  • Knowledge in debug and diagnostics, electrical failure mode and physical defect mechanism
  • Circuit analysis and logic design knowledge is a must
