GPU PERFORMANCE MODELLING ARCH- Strategic Leadership Role

AMD's Data Center GPU Performance organization is transforming the industry with our AI based Graphic Processors. THE ROLE:

As a Perf Modelling Architect within the DC GPU team, you will spearhead the architectural exploration of performance features for next-generation AI hardware and software solutions. You will develop and utilize advanced system-level models to project and analyze performance, guiding critical design decisions and influencing the future roadmap. You will collaborate closely with architects, hardware/software designers, and software design teams to develop best of the class performant AI architectures.

 

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate is a proactive technical leader with a passion for system-level performance modeling and a deep understanding of AI,ML and GPGPU architectures .The candidate should have strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to details. DCGPU team works on ambitious programs with fast paced timelines, so self-motivation and a commitment to meeting deadlines is required. DC GPU team is pushing the envelope on chip and system level performance challenging status quo on every program. This not only requires creativity and innovation to drive innovative modelling initiatives, but also excellent verbal and written communication skills. Candidate should be adept at guiding and mentoring fellow engineers and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Lead the development and execution of system-level modeling strategies for ML and GPGPU hardware and software co-design.

* Define, build, and maintain performance models for performance projections and analysis & architecture exploration.

* Drive performance trade-off studies for new architectural features, algorithms, and system configurations, providing data-driven recommendations.

* Collaborate with architecture, design, and software teams to integrate models, define workloads, and analyze simulation results.

* Innovate and advance modeling methodologies, tools, and infrastructure to improve accuracy, speed, and architectural insight.

* Mentor fellow engineers and provide technical guidance on system modeling best practices.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

* Extensive experience in system-level modeling and simulation for complex hardware architectures (e.g., GPUs, SoCs, ML accelerators).

* Proficiency in high-level modeling languages and frameworks (e.g., SystemC, C++, Python).

* Strong understanding of computer architecture, particularly in graphics and machine learning domains.

* Experience with performance analysis, workload characterization, and hardware/software co-design exploration.

* Familiarity with software stacks relevant to ML (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) and Graphics (e.g., DirectX, Vulkan) is a plus.

* Proven ability to lead modeling projects and translate architectural concepts into effective simulation models.

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
