THE ROLE:
We are seeking an experienced Indirect Tax Manager, responsible for EMEA VAT, to join our Tax team. The Indirect Tax Manager will be primarily responsible for VAT reporting and the management of VAT audits across the EMEA region. In addition, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in:
- process improvement initiatives,
- identifying and implementing automation opportunities within AMD's indirect tax ecosystem; and
- providing recommendations and solutions to mitigate risk associated with regulatory changes, supply chain alterations and business expansion
THE PERSON:
The successful candidate is someone with an in-depth knowledge of VAT. This role will appeal to a candidate who is a self-starter with the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment, and who thinks critically to identify, assess and resolve intricate tax issues. Candidates must have the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to clearly understand the needs of the business, explain complex tax concepts to business partners and advise on solutions which meet business needs while mitigating tax risk.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the VAT reporting and audit process for AMD in the EMEA region
- Collaborate with indirect tax colleagues in other regions to ensure cohesive and streamlined tax processes and strategy across the indirect tax function
- Lead the design and implementation of automated VAT reporting
- Engage with key stakeholders to understand and assess the impact of the business strategy on AMD's VAT obligations
- Provide VAT advice to key stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance, mitigate risk, support strategic decision making and improve cost efficiency
- Be a key participant within the global AMD Finance team in identifying, analysing and implementing VAT solutions
- Monitor and assess the impact of regulatory changes on AMD's business
- Develop and implement indirect tax training materials to encourage continuous process improvement
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years of indirect tax experience in Big 4 or within the tax function of an MNC. Technology sector experience preferred
- Good technical knowledge and demonstrated hands on experience with indirect tax issues of large multinational high-tech companies
- Proven experience in automating VAT processes and implementing technology-driven solutions
- Clear aptitude to prioritise tasks, execute with accuracy and meet deadlines
- Detail-oriented self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrates a clear capacity to listen to stakeholders and make recommendations which mitigate indirect tax risks while meeting the needs of the business
- Ability to work on a flexible work schedule as required to liaise with foreign colleagues in different time zones
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Degree in tax, accounting, business or finance
- CPA or equivalent
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word etc.)
- Experience with VAT automation tools and software
