To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Procurement Lead – Electrical located in Kendal.
Reporting to the UK Procurement Manager, the Procurement Lead - Electrical will lead the Electrical Buying team, within the wider Procurement team, leading on cost savings and sourcing new suppliers, whilst managing relationships with existing suppliers.
What a typical day looks like:
Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets
Provide analysis on costs for new and existing projects, and review cost reduction activities
Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings, utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods
Conduct research to source the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality
In conjunction with Design, monitor accuracy of Bills of Material providing feedback when appropriate
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to forecast, plan, and facilitate on-time material delivery to production to minimise disruption to production schedules
Where shortages arise, swift action is taken to minimise the impact on production and solutions are communicated to all impacted stakeholders
Provide trend analysis on repeat material shortages and implementation on corrective/preventative actions
Provide a link between Planning, Production, Projects, and Warehousing
Manage the scheduling of priority conflicts with suppliers
Develop a suite of KPIs to be shared monthly, including input to supplier performance
Implement all processes to agreed standards and targets and support continuous improvement initiatives and identify areas of improvement
Develop and maintain good relationships with suppliers and ensure demand for materials is met and deliveries made on time
Hold and Chair regular supplier meetings, at least monthly with our key suppliers, to oversee, strengthen and maximise the value of our relationships
Resolve supplier concerns and evaluate supplier performance
Management of people, including performance management when appropriate, to ensure that they are developed, coached and capable of performing the role designated
Completing ad hoc tasks as directed
The experience we're looking to add to our team:
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of procurement experience
Degree level experience, MCIPs or a similar field desirable
Experience within a manufacturing or engineering business would be beneficial
Proficient with MS Office, particularly Excel, as well as ten-key, spreadsheet (PC) and ERP software
Ability to read, research and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures and to effectively present information and acknowledges to questions from groups
Experience in calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
Ability to apply common sense comprehension to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
