We are currently seeking and have an immediate opening for a qualified and motivated individual to fill the position of Business Development Manager - Shop & Field Services to support our shops in Western Canada.

Reporting to the Director of Shop and Field Services, we're looking for a career sales individual with a creative mind who is not afraid of challenges and strives to prove that anything is possible with the right focus and determination.  The ideal candidate will have a shop or technical background and use organization, communication, and analytical skills to build and expand our business in the market by helping to develop existing accounts and acquiring new business to meet/exceed established targets.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for new business development as well as maintaining existing sales with a focus on Applied's shop network core services including hydraulic, industrial mechanical, as well as conveyor and lubrication systems.

  • Validate customer potential and service opportunities that fit within shop strategy and capabilities.

  • Collaborate with General Managers to develop sales strategies and new business prospects.

  • Actively engage with and support Applied Shop network and Applied Sales associates during the sales planning process and sales cycle as it relates to growing revenue and opportunities at existing and new clients.

  • Relay RFQs (request for quotes) directly from customers to the shop network and assist in clarifying details and requirements.

  • Collect data from service centers and shops to analyze potential. Collaborate with customers regarding feasibility, opportunities, and benefits of using Applied shop services (value added services)

  • Generate, document, and manage value-added ROI for your customers from utilizing value added shop services.

  • Create and deliver presentations to current and potential target accounts; create and prepare reports as requested by customers or management.

  • Function as a liaison between Applied shops, distribution locations and customers.

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • 10+ years professional experience in an industrial setting to include value added services and solutions, with proven metrics / results.

  • Engineering or technical trade background

  • Strong Mechanical Aptitude

  • Bachelor's Degree, Sales, or Business.


Specific Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of Fluid Power and/or BPT (Bearing & Power Transmission) products and industries

  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects with many stakeholders involved.

  • Entrepreneurial spirit, Customer obsessed, Innovative mindset.

  • Demonstrated understanding of shop services and industrial markets in Canada

  • Collaborative with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to learn and apply new information quickly.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as proven problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Prioritization and organizational skills with the ability to work self-directed.

  • Must be able to appropriately, discretely, and effectively handle and communicate sensitive information.

Working Conditions

  • Position has opportunity to be based in any AIT Canada location work remotely or in a hybrid structure. Physical location must be in one of the following major geographical areas in which Applied operates in Western Canada.

  • Travel expected approximately 50-70%, generally scheduled at the candidate's discretion.  Customer locations may be remote and required overnight.  Business expenses, including mileage, will be reimbursed as required.
