The Department of Economic Security, Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Psychology Associate. DDD provides individuals with developmental disabilities, and their families, services and supports that are flexible, high quality, and member driven. These services provide individuals with opportunities to exercise their rights and responsibilities of independent decision-making and engagement in the community.

Applicants for this position cannot be licensed or certified by the DDD Office of Licensing Certification and Regulation, cannot have a principal interest in or have a spouse or close family with principal interest in a DDD Qualified Vendor Agreement, and cannot be employed or subcontracted by a DDD Qualified Vendor.

Job Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Meet with interdisciplinary team members to identify behavior treatment needs for members; prepare suggested goals, objectives, and strategies as part of behavior treatment plan development; interpret written summary descriptions of all evaluations; and write behavior treatment plans. Participates in the development of the member's person-centered plan.
• Provide training and technical assistance to staff, other direct care staff, and providers in implementing behavior treatment plans, including methods for implementation and data collection in specific areas.
• Monitor implementation of behavior treatment plans; report to the interdisciplinary team regarding member's progress or lack thereof to determine the need to modify the behavior treatment plan. Modify behavior treatment plan as directed by the interdisciplinary team and approved by the PRC.
• Interpret, graph, and report monthly progress summary to the interdisciplinary team. Assist in presentation of each member's plan to Program Review Committee (PRC) for approval.
• Accompany members to Psychiatric appointments and provides a written summary of each member's target and alternative behaviors, since the last appointment as contained in their behavior treatment plan. Also provides a list current medications and medical conditions.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge in:
• Federal and State statutes and agency policies and procedures relating to the care and assistance for individuals with developmental disabilities. State budget and planning process. Local, state, and federal resources.
• Behavior Treatment Plan development, training, and monitoring.
• Arizona Administrative Code (MC) Title 6, Chapter 6, Article 9.
• Principles of Positive Behavior Support.
• Developmental disabilities and principles applicable for provision of vocational and educational services to this population.

Skills In:
• Oral and written communication.
• Interpersonal relations.
• Using various computer systems (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, databases, etc.).
• Problem resolution.
• Research and analysis.

Ability to:
• Work with wide, diverse groups while maintaining professionalism at all times.
• Organize, prioritize, and multi-task while managing a heavy workload.
• Interpret a variety of psychological tests and evaluations accurately and effectively.
• Learn, interpret and apply Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) pertaining to intermediate care facilities.
• Learn and work within the person-centered plan process.

Selective Preference(s):

The ideal candidate for this position will have:
• 1 year experience appropriate to the assignment.
• 3 years professional experience working with developmental disability (DD) populations.
• 7 years professional experience working with developmental disability (DD) population.
• Prefer professional experience in developing behavior plans, working with the Arizona behavioral health system, and DD populations.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Master's degree or two years full-time graduate work toward a doctoral degree in psychology, educational psychology, counseling psychology or other recognized area of psychology appropriate to the assignment from an accredited college or university and one year of experience equivalent to a Psychology Associate I appropriate to the assignment.
• If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver's License Requirements. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver's license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver's license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to Driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operated a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) (R2-10-201.11).
• Employee shall have a valid Level One fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-2758.07 in order to work with children and vulnerable adults.
• Candidates for this position shall be subject to a search of both the Department of Child Safety Central Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 8-804 and the Adult Protective Services Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 46-459.
• Successfully pass background and reference check; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the Agency's ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
• All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Retirement:

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for life-long income upon retirement. You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax-deferred retirement investments.
