Better Than Ever for Nurses. We're making the biggest investment ever in creating a better employment experience for our nursing team members. At Banner Health, we take care of nurses. Nurses take care of everyone.
The Banner Desert Medical Center Observation Unit fills a universal need by providing a setting of care for patients not requiring an inpatient admission to receive additional diagnostic workup or therapeutic intervention beyond the scope of a typical Emergency Department visit. Our patients primarily are admitted from the ED but will also have patients coming as direct admissions from provider offices for treatment. Patients are projected to need a timeframe of 18 to 24 hours to assess their need for inpatient admission or discharge, therefore we are a fast-paced unit where our nurses can expect to admit, transfer and discharge patients daily. If admitted, this unit also cares for Med/Surg and Tele inpatients, which gives nurses a broader knowledge and skill set and provides the best of both worlds with caring for observation and inpatients.
As Registered Nurse you will have the opportunity to work on this unit that consists of 70 beds all private rooms and cares for Med/Surg and Tele patients. Additionally, we have Advance Practice Providers (NP or PA) who are available to direct patient care when needed. Our nurses care for a wide range of diagnoses and care plans including Stroke, cardiac events, post-op care, and many others. This is a wonderful place to learn as an RN as we care for such a broad range of patients. You will be supported by PCA's and work cohesively in collaboration with one another, as well as, with the interdisciplinary team. You will also have the opportunity utilize our self-scheduling tool for shift and weekend coverage. Enjoy an 18%-night shift differential and a flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential. If you like being kept busy and work in a very team-oriented unit you will want to apply for this position.
