This is an excellent opportunity to join Banner Health and work at both the Tucson campus and South campus Emergency departments! As an RN for Banner Staffing Services you will self-schedule a minimum of 2 shifts per month. You must be available to schedule at either location.
Requirements:
- Have a minimum of 18 months of RN work experience
- Have a minimum of 12 months of recent work experience in the Emergency Dept
- BLS, ACLS and PALS
- Orientation is a full time, week long commitment. You must be available to attend both virtual and in-person training classes during your first week.
The Emergency Department at Banner University Medical Center Tucson campus is a 61 bed unit serving as a Level 1 Trauma Center in Southern Arizona . Our ED sees around 220 patients a day, which is a little over 80,000 patients per year! We have been nationally recognized for providing exceptional patient care, teaching future health care professionals and conducting groundbreaking research. In addition to our Adult Emergency Depart, we have a Pediatric Emergency Department. A 16 bed pod housed in the northern most area of the main Emergency Department. We are a Pediatric Prepared Advanced Care certified Emergency Department and a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center. During busier times of the year we also run a pediatric fast track with a mid-level provider and nurse. We have Child Life services available Monday- Friday and depend on our Pediatric ER nurses to provide the highest level of specialized care to our pediatric population.

The fast-paced environment and diverse patient population allows for one to see, learn and do all that emergency medicine has to offer. The Banner UMC South ED is a 50-bed department, Level 1 Behavioral Health and Level 4 Trauma Center with approximately 50,000 annual visits. Plans are in place to seek the Level 3 Trauma Center designation!
Banner Staffing Services (BSS) offers Registry/Per Diem opportunities within Banner Health. Registry/Per Diem positions are utilized as needed within our facilities. These positions are great way to start your career with Banner Health. As a BSS team member, you are eligible to apply (at any time) as an internal applicant to any regular opportunities within Banner Health.
When working Per Diem you must work at least 2 shifts a month.
As a BSS RN, you will be eligible for the Banner Bedside Commitment opportunities (Formally Banner Travel). Banner Staffing RNs can pick up 8, 10, or 13 week commitments at a wide variety of Banner facilities in the following states: Wyoming, Nevada, Nebraska, California, Arizona, and Colorado.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under their direction. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and assures completion within appropriate timeframe. Reviews available information obtained by other health care team members. Reviews diagnostics and laboratory data and reports abnormal results to the physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers. Completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and as outlined in policy.
2. Formulates a plan of care, including the discharge plan, utilizing assessment data and patient, family and health team input. Initiates a plan of care based on patient-specific needs, assessment data and the medical plan of care.
