This is an excellent opportunity to join Banner Health and work at both the Tucson campus and South campus Observation units! As an RN for Banner Staffing Services you will self-schedule a minimum of 2 shifts per month. You must be available to schedule at either location. There are opportunities for both Day and Night shift.
Requirements:
- Have a minimum of 18 months of RN work experience.
- Have a minimum of 12 months of recent work experience on an Observation Unit or Progressive Care Unit. (Within the last year and a half)
- BLS and ACLS.
- Orientation is a full time, week long commitment. You must be available to attend both virtual and in-person training classes during your first week.
Banner University Medical Center-South The Outpatient Observation Unit (OOU) is a 9 bed unit offering care to a wide variety of patients. Our patient population consists of individuals with an array of medical comorbidities including diabetes, heart failure, minor orthopedic injuries, minimal invasive surgeries, urology and falls. Patients on this unit typically have shorter stays ranging (<24 hours). Though small, the OOU is a fast-paced environment. All beds have telemetry monitoring ability and are positioned around the nurse's station allowing for close monitoring and strong teamwork. BUMCS is currently working toward Magnet, Level 3 Trauma and Primary Stroke designation.
Banner University Medical Center-Tucson has 2 OOUs, a 20-bed unit (4NW) and a 16-bed unit (1NW). The Observation Units strive to provide a highly coordinated experience for our patients and consistent care by providing ongoing, short-term treatment, assessment and reassessment while a decision is being made whether further treatment is needed as a hospital inpatient. Within 48 hours our patients will either be discharged or be admitted to an inpatient unit. As an RN on this unit, you can expect to admit, transfer and discharge patients daily. All 36 beds have telemetry monitoring ability. Observation is a fun and fast paced environment where nurses and physicians work collaboratively to meet the needs of our patients.

These positions offer flexibility in scheduling and are great way to start your career with Banner Health. As a BSS RN, you will be eligible for the Banner Bedside Commitment opportunities (Formally Banner Travel). Banner Staffing RNs can pick up 8, 10, or 13 week commitments at a wide variety of Banner facilities in the following states: Wyoming, Nevada, Nebraska, California, Arizona, and Colorado.

Registry/Per Diem positions do not have guaranteed hours and no medical benefits package is offered. Registry/Per Diem positions require a minimum of 2 shifts a month commitment. Completion of post-offer Occupational Health physical assessment, drug screen and background check (includes; employment, criminal and education) is required.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under their direction. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and assures completion within appropriate timeframe. Reviews available information obtained by other health care team members. Reviews diagnostics and laboratory data and reports abnormal results to the physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers. Completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and as outlined in policy.
2. Formulates a plan of care, including the discharge plan, utilizing assessment data and patient, family and health team input. Initiates a plan of care based on patient-specific needs, assessment data and the medical plan of care.
