Job Summary

 

The Wholesale Fertilizer Manager is a trading and logistics position best suited for a growth-oriented and self-motivated person.  Our ideal candidate is aggressive in the marketplace and excels at building relationships with supplier partners and customers.  This position is responsible for understanding the factors that affect fertilizer products supply, demand, and price, as well as financial performance. The candidate will also be able to manage position risk, credit risk and all faucets of supply chain.

 

This position is based in the Kansas City, MO office building.

This job will be a day shift Monday through Friday.  During certain parts of the year, there will be evening and weekend hours to meet customers' needs.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Purchase and sell bulk fertilizer products in accordance with the Company's business strategy and goals
  • Work closely with Company trading team, logistics team, and Bartlett grain facility locations for marketing strategy, management, and execution
  • Execute to meet annual customer and product volume targets
  • Maintain records of business transactions and product inventories with reporting data to leadership, companies or government agencies as requested
  • Manage all fertilizer positions across products and market zones traded
  • Record data and manage positions pertaining to receiving, storing, and shipping of products
  • Manage product logistics to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Coordinate and collect payment from customers in coordination with the Company's credit team
  • Ongoing travel to interact with growers and suppliers
  • Gain fertilizer market intelligence through relationships and resources
  • Perform job tasks in a safe manner in compliance with Company's safety programs and procedures

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree, or higher
  • 3+ years trading experience
  • Agronomy experience preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • The ability to work under pressure
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strategic approach to the marketplace
  • Strong communication skills and relationship management
  • The ability to work well with others at all levels within the organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs

 

Physical Demands and Requirements

  • This job is not physically strenuous, you must be able to sit at a desk and utilize computers
  • This job requires the ability to read and comprehend written and oral operational and safety instructions and related rules, policies, and memos, and to communicate clearly with your co-workers and supervisors
  • This job is indoors in a controlled atmosphere with occasional visits to customer businesses and Company locations
  • There will be minimal lifting of approximately 30 lbs
