Summary of Position:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Operations – Information Systems & Project Management, the Information Technology (IT) Director is the primary liaison between CVH operations and IT. Specifically serves as a collaborative partner to ensure IT efforts and strategies align with the priorities of our organization's strategies and operations. The IT Director is responsible for the management of the CVH IT and Epic EMR staff and manages daily operations including finances, infrastructure, vendors, work assignments, projects, status and key performance metrics. Capable to effectively track, manage and report projects. Responsible for the operational preparedness and readiness of our IT services and solutions, and proactive readiness state of IT/IS security. The IT Director is a lifelong learner, maintaining knowledge on applicable current and upcoming technologies, innovations and industry trends for purposes of best practices implementation that advances the mission of CVH.
Qualifications
Education:
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field strongly preferred.
Experience:
• Three years of experience managing IT staff and department operations.
• Five years of experience implementing, managing and maintaining multi-location business computing environments.
• Healthcare environment experience preferred.
• Epic experience preferred.
• Experience in planning and allocating resources for new or upgraded Epic or other related software builds.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, critical thinking and decision making.
• High degree of self-motivation, commitment and integrity.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills, coaching and mentoring skills, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
• Willingness to work flexible/odd hours at times. Operation of services are predominately business hours, however proactive monitoring of all services, support, on-call as needed to ensure optimal system availability to meet business needs.
• Must be able to read and write in English.
Certifications/Licensure:
• One or more technology certifications preferred.

Essential Functions
1. Provides consistently exceptional care at all times.
2. Promotes staff development through educational opportunities, formal and informal, mentoring staff, providing operational/project opportunities to leverage and stretch their talents.
3. Ensures an environment of ongoing constructive feedback mechanisms and in support of our employee performance appraisal process, ensuring all are completed thoroughly and submitted on time.
4. Develops performance goals/objectives with each staff member to promote maximum productivity, proficiency, and professional growth, as evidenced by written goals on performance appraisals.
5. Develops & follows through with employee development plan when opportunity for improvement is identified.
6. Oversees all aspects of the CVH IT infrastructure deployment, maintenance, operations, refresh and customer service, including systems, network and help desk.
7. Oversees IT/IS security needs with ongoing awareness and education for all users, along with proactive/continuous assessments and action to mitigate and manage organizational risks.
8. Responsible for ensuring industry best practices and standards are followed in regards to incident, change and project management, as it relates to the systems supported by the IT teams and that these standards support regulations that govern CVH: HIPAA, CMS, Meaningful Use, Medicaid, etc.
9. Ensures proper IT documentation, procedures, backups, security, troubleshooting, business continuity/disaster recovery, performance and availability.
10. Develops and implements an IT steering committee to ensure projects are staying within approved scope and all components are meeting regulatory compliance.
11. Establishes and maintains multi-year (e.g. 3-year) projections for systems (software, hardware, infrastructure, and processes), obsolescence, upgrades, replacement, optimization and decommission.
12. Understands and manages Microsoft Windows for servers and PC's, Active Directory, DHCP and DNS services, storage, virtualization and cloud services.
13. Understands and manages LAN and WAN topologies and architecture, Wireless, IP telephony, telecommunications and remote access systems.
14. Possesses strong knowledge of business and collaboration systems such as Exchange email, Google, online conference tools, etc.
15. Prepares regular status reports and key performance metrics.
16. Demonstrates willingness to identify and/or assume activities relative to the developmental needs of the department.
17. Accepts assignment as preceptor for new staff.
18. Develops and manages Operational and Capital budget for the IT department.
19. Oversees all IT purchasing and vendor invoices/payments and relationships.
20. Demonstrates responsible use of resources including people, finances, equipment and facilities.
21. Communicates with employees, physicians, patients and administrative staff in a courteous and professional manner.
22. Creates a workplace environment where staff is working toward the same essential goals and strategies; provide 2-way communication where ideas can be shared in a non-punitive environment.
23. Provides effective communication process between administration, management, and staff (i.e. staff meetings, communication books, communication boards).
24. Participates in hospital /medical staff committee meetings, and Safety Huddles as required.
25. Provides leadership and guidance to other leaders and staff in IT goal setting, problem solving, resource management, and outcome achievement.
