Position Summary  

The Accommodations Coordinator position works closely with the Alternative Formats Access Specialist and the Front Desk Program Assistant to coordinate the reader/scribe accommodation, the alternative formats accommodation and assist with the furniture accommodation. These roles work to directly fulfill the accommodations for students and coordinate their fulfillment with the assistance of the program assistant and others.

The Disability Resource Center provides disability accommodations to disabled students according federal and state law. This ensures that disabled students have equal access to all of the services and benefits of education at Bellevue College. The Disability Resource Center reports to the Dean of Student Support in the Student Affairs division.

The program serves as a reference for Bellevue College faculty and staff, offering information and training in disability, disability justice related issues, and promoting inclusion in academics, the workplace, and in the community.

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule  

Position Salary Range: $43,812/year - $58,368/year

The salary information shown above is a general guideline only. The salary will be determined based on candidate's qualifications and related experience, as well as market and business considerations. Individuals newly hired to Classified position are placed in a salary range based on the WPEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

We offer comprehensive compensation package with salary and benefits as the main components. Competitive salary is within the Range stated above, and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Generous benefits package is offered through Washington State plans that includes multiple medical, dental, life and disability coverage choices for employees and dependents; choices of retirement and deferred compensation plans; paid holidays, sick, and vacation plans; transit program, reduced tuition, employee discounts and memberships, etc.

The employee is scheduled to work 40 hours per workweek. This is a Classified, overtime eligible position and represented by the Washington Public Employee Association of Higher Education (WPEA-HE).

About the Department

Essential Functions  

Alternative Format Coordination

  • Process book files to be converted.
  • Update MyDRC and assist Program Specialist in assigning work to Accommodation Assistants.
  • Upload and send completed files to students.
  • Update work order requests.
  • Contact publishers regarding book files needed.

Reader/Scribe Coordination

  • Pull current students lists, contact instructors, assign reader/ scribes to courses.
  • Notify supervisors of uncovered classes/ tests.
  • Coordinate  with Testing Proctor for tests requiring reader/scribes.

Note taking and furniture accommodation

  • Coordinate all aspects of note taking accommodation including note taker orientation, recruitment, and tracking.
  • Coordinate all aspects of furniture accommodation including tracking and placement.
  • Delegate tasks related to coordination of note taking and furniture accommodation to Accommodation Assistants as needed.

Alternative Format editing

  • Convert course materials into accessible files.

Cover Front Desk

  • Greet and assist students, faculty, and guests as they arrive to the DRC.
  • Assist with appointment scheduling and MyDRC updates for students while covering front desk.
  • Answer phone calls, emails, and Teams messages related to front desk coverage.

Other Duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications  
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) or more years in office or retail setting.
  • Two (2) or more years of professional experience with software programs Microsoft Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Effective customer service skills.
  • Effective ability to prioritize competing tasks.
  • Effective reading and writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications  
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • One (1) or more years working with Disabled customers/ students.
  • Effective understanding of math and science books at the college level.
