Culinary Arts Associate Faculty
SALARY: For a full course load, the position pays approximately $19,183.00 per term.
LOCATION:Lynnwood, Washington
DESCRIPTION: Edmonds College is seeking a Culinary Arts Associate Faculty member.
The Culinary Arts associate faculty members will teach a variety of beginning, intermediate, and advanced kitchen labs classes, with future additional classroom based teaching possibilities, like Principles of Cooking, and other courses as assigned. This position is also responsible for supporting a curriculum and instructional program that reflects both classical and contemporary cooking trends, while meeting industry standards. The position requires a variety of teaching methodologies, including online teaching, lecture, and lab classes; the successful candidate will be expected to learn these modalities. Working with other faculty, the position will help manage the College Café and oversee student production in the department¿s To Go Program.
Daily hours in the lab will be from approximately 8:30 am to 2:15 pm, Monday through Thursday (a 5.75-hour day). In addition, there is attendant administrative work at other times for grading, record keeping, curriculum development, communication with students and staff, and which may include advising, recruitment, and some office hours . The position requires strong team skills, collaborative decision-making with other faculty and staff working in the instructional and food services departments, including both leading and participating on various teams, as well as multitasking abilities.
This associate faculty position reports to the Dean of the School of Business, Entrepreneurship, & Professional Education. It is anticipated to have a start date of September 17, 2025.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate's degree in Culinary Arts or a related field.
- Three years of recent industry experience.
- One year as an Executive Chef, or equivalent food service management experience.
- Desire to learn the principles of successful teaching as at Edmonds College.
- Excellent verbal, writing, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Evidence of ability to use technologies, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, email, and learning management systems (i.e., Canvas).
PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work typically takes place in a professional kitchen setting, requiring extensive standing, walking, bending and twisting and lifting up to 50 pounds. Other work may be performed in a classroom and office, requiring standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Faculty members are frequently required to use computers and other technologies in the work environment.
COMPENSATION:
The work schedule is based on an eleven-week quarterly schedule and could vary each quarter. Salary is dependent upon contract load and mode of instruction. A standard five-credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $6,387.94 at Step A. Special assignments are paid at $45 per hour, and meeting stipends are compensated per the CBA rate, starting at $55 for meetings lasting from 30 minutes up to 2 hours.
