Position Summary  

The Health Sciences, Education and Wellness Institute (HSEWI) division is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time tenure track faculty member for Fall 2027 in the Nursing programs.  Primary workload will be in the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program, however faculty in Nursing can work within the RN-BSN program as needs arise.

The successful candidate must reside in Washington State by the start of the position and demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching in person. This includes teaching on the Bellevue College campus and surrounding local clinical sites.  We expect faculty to participate in non-teaching duties such as committee service, advising, accreditation requirements, and professional development activities. While there may be opportunities to teach online or hybrid courses, faculty are expected to maintain a significant presence on campus to support students, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to the college community.  The Nursing faculty will perform duties and functions under the general direction of the Provost and shall be responsible primarily to the Associate Dean of Nursing.

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule  

Position Salary Range: $84,209.79/year - $118,104.89/year

Annual salary is based on a 176-day contract with a minimum of $90,293.65; beginning salary will be determined by the assessment of the candidate's education and related experience. New hires start no higher than $90,293.65 unless exceptional circumstances prevail. Certain positions may also be eligible for assignment/project-based additional compensation, including a High Demand Stipend up to $8,820 annually, prorated based on the discipline and duration of the assignment. All additional compensations are subject to change depending on funding and negotiated agreement.

About the Department  

The Health Sciences, Education & Wellness Institute (HSEWI) is dedicated to successful completion of our students' education goals, as well as advocates for life-long wellness, learning, teaching, and service excellence. We provide a wide variety of accessible, rigorous, and engaging professional/technical courses, programs, and credentials that are responsive to individual, institutional, and community needs, prospects, and opportunities. Our Institute is comprised of unique programs which focus on providing excellent education and training for many professions in healthcare, education, and wellness.

Essential Functions  

Teaching duties include:

  • Teaching face-to-face and hybrid classes (combination of face-to-face and online) in the classroom, nursing lab, nursing simulation and clinical settings in the ADN and RN-BSN programs based upon program needs.
  • Working closely with the nursing faculty team to align course delivery of learning strategies and materials in alignment with CNEA accreditation standards.
  • Maintaining current knowledge and skills in areas of assignment including didactic, lab, clinical and simulation.

Non-teaching duties include:

  • Mentoring adjunct faculty as assigned.
  • Assessing student-learning outcomes.
  • Participating in on-going curriculum development, revision, implementation and evaluation at the standards set by accreditors and state board of nursing. 
  • Providing culturally responsive student advising, such as navigating obstacles that underrepresented and historically marginalized student populations may experience in college (e.g. students with disabilities, students of color, first generation college students, LBGTQIA+ students, Veterans, English language learners, etc.) 
  • Participating in the life and culture of the programs, division, and college, including the college-wide effort to dismantle barriers that can impact underrepresented and historically marginalized student populations 
  • Engaging in self-reflection and self-evaluation.
  • Building collaborative relationships between Bellevue College (BC) and health care communities.
  • All other responsibilities as defined in WAC 246-840-523.
Minimum Qualifications  
  • Master's degree in Nursing or closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Current Washington State RN license, compact license, or be eligible to obtain licensure before starting the quarter.
  • An advocate for pluralism with a teaching philosophy appropriate for a diverse (multicultural, multi-ability, etc.) classroom.
  • Effective communication skills (to students and colleagues) in both written and oral form.
  • Background/prior experience that shows understanding of concepts related to student-centered teaching and learning theory, curriculum development, and assessment of learning outcomes.
  • Experience and/or education for developing nursing program curriculum.
  • Knowledge/ experience utilizing simulation of all fidelities.
Preferred Qualifications  
  • Certification in clinical specialty. Certification in simulation education.
  • Ability to teach in multiple specialty areas of nursing care (ex. Pediatric care, Behavioral health, Maternal health, Medical / Surgical, etc.).
  • Experience in integrating diversity, pluralism, and inclusion into teaching and learning, or equivalent transferable skills to do so.
  • Knowledge/experience working with a variety of teaching modalities and delivery methods, including simulation, flipped classes, online, and hybrid courses.
  • History of life-long learning and professional development in nursing practice, quality care, and current health care issues.
  • Experience in addressing disproportionate impact and equity issues within an institution.
  • Active involvement in community and professional organizations.
  • Basic computer literacy skills and knowledge of learning management systems.
