Position Summary  

The Center for Career Connections (CCC) and the RISE Learning Institute are seeking Bellevue College student employees to serve as student ambassadors for CCC and RISE services. The student ambassadors will help BC students understand and engage with the CCC and RISE.   

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule  

Pay range: $18.68- $24.70/hour

The salary information shown above is a general guideline only. The salary will be determined based on candidate's qualifications and related experience, as well as market and business considerations. Typically, new hire starts no higher than $19/hour based on Bellevue College hourly salary schedule.

The successful candidate is expected to work 10 - 19 hours per week, hours flexible with student schedules. 

This position is expected to NOT be eligible for benefits. Student employees are entitled to begin accruing paid sick leave from the start of their employment.

About the Department  

The RISE Learning Institute, a part of the Connected Learning Division, works across Bellevue College and with the surrounding community to provide opportunities for students to learn through experiences, with the goal of helping them identity, articulate, build, and apply strengths. RISE builds cross campus collaborations, innovative programs, and community connections to provide transformative learning experiences for students. By fostering Research, Innovation, Service, and Experiential Learning (RISE), the RISE Institute helps students develop skills that can help them succeed during and after their time at Bellevue College.

The Center for Career Connections is the largest unit of Bellevue College's RISE Learning Institute.  (RISE stands for Research, Innovation, Service, and Experiential learning.)  The RISE Learning Institute serves as a hub for hands-on learning, career exploration, strengths development, and community engagement high-impact practices that benefit all students, but especially students of color, first-generation students, and disabled students. RISE and the Center for Career Connections are thus at the center of Bellevue College's efforts to close equity gaps and fuel student success.

The Center for Career Connections helps students, alumni, and prospective students explore career options; discover, articulate, and apply their strengths; and connect to work-based learning opportunities during and after college.

Essential Functions  
  • Staff the CCC front desk, providing a warm welcome to BC students.
  • Assist students in making appointments with professional staff at the CCC and RISE.
  • Ensure that students complete required CCC/RISE paperwork, and the appointment check in and check out process.
  • Regularly check phone and email communications to RISE and the CCC and route communications to the appropriate staff member.
  • Interact with student users to understand how CCC and RISE Services can best meet the needs of the student population.
  • Outreach to other students and student groups on campus to increase awareness of CCC and RISE services.
  • Acquire testimonials from students (electronic and text based) that can be used by RISE and the CCC to demonstrate a value proposition for new student usage.
  • Serve as the student voice and perspective for marketing and communication efforts underway in RISE and the CCC.  Provide input on videos, website, brochures and the like to ensure the language and descriptions being used are communicative to current and potential students.
  • Provide accurate referrals to students as needed.
  • Assist with the marketing and planning of events including job fairs, employer panels and workshops. 
     
Minimum Qualifications  
  • Current BC student
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Effective telephone answering skills.
  • Dependable, reliable with a friendly and welcoming attitude.  
  • Effective customer service skills, remain professional and follow department and BC policies.
  • Ability to work with students and staff from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to multi-task in an environment with possible ongoing interruptions.
  • Ability to work independently and practice independent judgment.
  • Resourceful, with the ability to locate and provide information.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office programs, especially Outlook at intermediate level.
