Position Summary  

Under the direction of the Maintenance and Warehouse Manager, the Warehouse Assistant is responsible for assistance with receiving, processing, stocking of goods and products in the warehouse, inventory control and scheduling customer deliveries. Typical goods and products handled are consumer goods and classroom supplies (including lab supplies). On-the-job training will be provided under the general supervision of Maintenance and Warehouse Manager.

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule  

Pay rate: $20.02/hour - $23.00/hour

The successful candidate is expected to work 20 hours per week, no more than 12 months. The salary information shown above is a general guideline only. The salary will be determined based on candidate's qualifications and related experience, as well as market and business considerations.

The temporary hourly employment is limited to the earlier of 1,050 hours or 12 consecutive months beginning from the original date of hire. Per WAC 357-04-045, following 1,050 hours or 12 consecutive months, an individual is not eligible for re-employment at Bellevue College in another temporary part-time hourly position. Temporary hourly employees who work more than three hundred fifty (350) hours in a twelve consecutive month period may be subject to provisions of one the collective bargaining agreements covering Classified employees at Bellevue College.  

This position is expected to NOT be eligible for benefits because eligibility is limited only to employees working at least an average of 80 hours in eligible employment for more than 6 consecutive months and at least 8 hours a month. Eligible positions are eligible for certain benefits.

About the Department  

Bellevue College¿s Campus Operations supports the daily operational needs of the campus as well as managing capital project to support the institutional mission. Warehouse and Delivery section provides critical service to the campus on a daily basis.

Essential Functions  
  • Participates in receiving, unloading, moving and loading of various types of maintenance, custodial, and grounds material; equipment; and varied supplies that are necessary for serving the campus community;
  • Participates in unpacking incoming items and checking their condition, quantity, and type, against shipping documents.
  • May operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, ladders, light trucks, and utility carts;
  • Assisting with physical inventories processes. Applying good safety practices;
  • Helping with Maintaining warehouse arrangement and maximizing space utilization to accommodate current stock;
  • Assisting in establishing delivery priorities and delivery destination points through coordination with activities supported;
  • Assisting with disposal of surplus or excess property;
  • Model excellent customer service in all situations, including walk-in customers.
Minimum Qualifications  
  • High School graduation or GED Certificate and physical ability to do required work and six months of clerical or technical experience in retail clerking, warehousing, stock keeping, shipping, or receiving and operation of material handling equipment OR Equivalent education/experience.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills.
  • Experience with and ability to work effectively with diverse customers. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Lift a maximum of 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications  
  • One year experience or training involving warehouse operations or equivalent.
  • Possess basic computer skills including MS Teams Outlook, Word, and other basic software. If system is implemented as planned, training will be available for operation of new scanning system to be used in receiving packages.
