Position Summary  

Payroll Coordinator processes and manages payroll activities ensuring all employees are paid in an accurate, timely, and cost-efficient manner in compliance with College's policies and governmental regulations. Payroll Coordinator maintains payroll records, enters and updates payroll related information in the payroll system, processes employees' leave and timesheets, provides supports in the payroll related information to supervisors, administrators, faculty, and employees. 

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule  

Pay rate: $23.00/hour - $27.95/hour

The successful candidate is expected to work 15-19 hours per week. This position typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment. 

The temporary hourly employment is limited to the earlier of 1,050 hours or 12 consecutive months beginning from the original date of hire. Per WAC 357-04-045, following 1,050 hours or 12 consecutive months, an individual is not eligible for re-employment at Bellevue College in another temporary part-time hourly position. Temporary hourly employees who work more than three hundred fifty (350) hours in a twelve consecutive month period may be subject to provisions of one the collective bargaining agreements covering Classified employees at Bellevue College.  

This position is expected to NOT be eligible for benefits because eligibility is limited only to employees working at least an average of 80 hours in eligible employment for more than 6 consecutive months and at least 8 hours a month. Eligible positions are eligible for certain benefits.

About the Department  

Bellevue College Payroll Services Department provides payroll related services to four state colleges: Bellevue College, Everett Community College, Skagit Valley College, and Whatcom Community College. Payroll Services Department is responsible for managing employees' compensation, processing payroll, and ensuring compliance with regulations. 

Essential Functions  
  • Process semi-monthly payroll and schedule payroll related reports and activities.
  • Process and manage timekeeping and leave records. Review and fix the exceptions related to the reported time.
  • Calculate hours/overtime hours to process exceptions and audit system calculations. 
  • Reconcile payroll inputs and calculations to ensure high quality output.
  • Maintain and update payroll records.
  • Perform other related duties as required/assigned.
     
Minimum Qualifications  
  • Associate degree or equivalent education/experience.
  • Three (3) years of fiscal or payroll experience OR equivalent related combination of education/experience.
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Effective communication skills such as email, phone and in person.
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment with diverse employees and student/customer groups.

 

Preferred Qualifications  
  • Working experience with PeopleSoft/ctcLink
