PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION
To provide guidance and supervision to Cath Lab personnel, while serving as the Director's liaison in responding to requests/problems from associates, physicians, patients, visitors and other departments. Assists with assessing, planning, and evaluating care of patients in all age groups.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Duty 1: Accountable for quality care to the Cath lab patients.
Duty 2: Supervises day-to-day operations within the Cath Lab department.
Duty 3: Conducts performance appraisal evaluations on Cath Lab personnel.
Duty 4: Participates in the overall operations of the department including staffing, scheduling, payroll, departmental policies and procedures, associate/physician relationships, and departmental assets.
Duty 5: Assists in developing department budget and strives to control departmental costs.
Duty 6: Assists in the recruitment, selection and training of competent department associates in conjunction with Human Resources. Establishes and evaluates ongoing department competency requirements for department staff. Manages associate performance through reward and recognition, timely performance reviews, coaching and counseling.
Duty 7: Attends meetings and serves on committees as appointed. Completes all required reports in an accurate and timely manner.
Duty 8: Stays abreast of federal, state and local regulations and applies to the department's operations appropriately.
Duty 9: Functions as an effective leader, role model and problem solver for staff in the Cath lab department. Promotes an environment in which the patient care team can work cooperatively toward objectives.
Duty 10: Implements strategic plan for Cath Lab services
Duty 11: Responsible for creating and evaluating quality initiatives to attain upper quartile clinical quality performance
Duty 12: Ensure that the Cath Lab is operating under full Joint Commission standards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Licensed by the State of Ohio as a Registered Nurse
· ACLS & BLS certifications within 30 days of hire
· On-call duties which would require that you arrive at the facility within 30 minutes after being contacted by hospital personnel
· A valid driver's license is required (if you do not have a valid Ohio driver's license you must obtain one within 30 days of your residency in the state). You must also meet BVHS's company fleet policy and insurance company requirements, and any other requirements that may be required to operate a vehicle.
· Previous supervisory training or experience.
· Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required.
· Individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his/her assigned unit/department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status. Must be able to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the area's policies and procedures.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires a full range of body motion with intermittent activities in walking, sitting, lifting, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting and standing. The associate will be required to lift 50 pounds or more. This position requires individuals to lift work above the Shoulder. The associate must have corrected vision and hearing in the normal range. Individual must have excellent verbal communication skills to perform daily tasks.
This position is classified “at risk” for possible occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens (HBV, HIV, etc.)
