PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION

The primary purpose of the supply chain contracting specialist is to ensure the appropriate and cost effective management of all supply chain contracts.  The position will analyze, coordinate, and resolve all issues that arise during contract review process.  The position will be an expert in the contract management software and establish an ongoing review process for all contracts including GPO, local, service agreements, purchased services, and capital contracts.  The position will be responsible for the RFP process in conjunction with the supply chain leadership team and will have exceptional negotiation skills.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Duty 1: Coordinates, manages, and provides daily oversight for all contract negotiations and the ongoing contract review process. Demonstrates the necessary analytical skills required to problem solve any issues that may arise and takes action as needed to ensure appropriate contract management. 

Duty 2:  Acts as a subject matter expert for the contract management system.  Works closely with supply chain leadership to use the contract management system in a way that promotes a best-practice supply chain environment.

Duty 3: Manages and leads the RFP process in conjunction with the supply chain leadership team.

Duty 4:  Identifies contract cost savings opportunities and actively works to reduce cost for the organization.  Works to ensure contract compliance with market share requirements and standardization initiatives.

Duty 5:  Leads performance improvement related activities and establishes standard work for the department in conjunction with the Corporate Director of Supply Chain.  Ensures that the actions of the department are consistent and produce positive outcomes that are measurable and quantifiable.

Duty 6: Works closely with all supply chain associates to ensure standardization and a cost effective approach to medical supplies.  The position will act as a departmental expert in the contracting process and supply data to the VAC/SVAC committees. 

Duty 7: Can perform basic supply chain tasks and willingly helps in these areas when needed.

Duty 8: Acts as role model and mentor for other supply chain associates.  Ensures teamwork that promotes results and that are consistent with the organization and department's goals.  Maintains exceptional service excellence skills at all times.

 Duty 9: Relays pertinent information in a timely manner to the Corporate Director of Supply Chain to ensure excellent inner-department communication.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors of Science degree in business, finance, accounting, mathematics, or related analytical degree
  • Two years of experience with contracting in a business or financial setting
  • Documented data analysis and performance improvement skills including Microsoft Excel
  • Positive, service-oriented, interpersonal and communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA or extensive healthcare business experience
  • CMRP preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Accounts payable knowledge

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires a full range of body motion with intermittent walking, lifting, bending, climbing, squatting, kneeling, twisting, sitting and standing. The individual must be able to lift 50 or more pounds occasionally and 35 pounds frequently. The individual must be able to push and/or pull with the aid of a pallet jack (and in some instances the added assistance of another associate) up to 1200 pounds. The individual must be able to reach work above the shoulders. The individual must have good eye-hand coordination and fine finger dexterity. The associate must have excellent verbal communication skills to perform daily tasks. The associate must have corrected vision and hearing in the normal range. Some exposure to heat, noise, bodily injury and toxic substances.
