Professional Services / Technical Evangelist / Program Manager

Mainframe AMI Cloud

BMC IZOT Mainframe Professional Services has an exciting opportunity to grow our team in the US with the opening for a Mainframe AMI Cloud Professional Services / Technical Evangelist / Program Manager. We are forecasting to be the largest Services unit within BMC and are looking for the right people to help develop and grow our practice.

This role is responsible for managing all deal tracking, solution tracking, project coordination, and pre-sales support while driving technical excellence across Professional Services (PS), R&D, Value Systems Engineering (VSE), and Product Management. The position requires strong leadership in team dynamics, recruitment, training, and process optimization while ensuring customers fully understand their migration journey and product capabilities. Additionally, this role acts as the primary technical focal point for BMC AMI Cloud.

The candidate must be based in the US, have excellent communication skills, and be available for travel when necessary. Other languages are a plus.

  • Deal & Solution Tracking: Maintain visibility on all AMI Cloud deals, ensuring solutions are accurately scoped and aligned with client needs.
  • Project Coordination: Oversee end-to-end project execution, ensuring smooth handover from pre-sales to delivery and tracking progress across Professional Services.
  • Pre-Sales Support: Collaborate with sales and pre-sales teams to provide technical expertise, proof of concepts, and migration strategy insights.
  • Team Dynamics & Skills Tracking: Monitor team capabilities, identify skill gaps, and drive continuous upskilling within the Professional Services team.
  • Hiring & Recruitment: Identify and recruit top talent to strengthen the AMI Cloud Professional Services team.
  • Technical Focal Point: Act as the go-to expert for AMI Cloud, ensuring consistency in messaging, strategy, and execution across PS, R&D, and Product Management.
  • Training & Education: Develop training programs for both internal teams and clients to enhance knowledge of AMI Cloud solutions.
  • Process Optimization: Define and improve Professional Services processes to drive efficiency, scalability, and high-quality delivery.
  • R&D & Release Monitoring: Stay aligned with product development, ensuring the PS team is prepared for new features and updates.
  • Client Advocacy & Migration Strategy: Ensure clients understand the migration journey, technical roadmap, and long-term benefits of AMI Cloud.

To ensure you're set up for success, you will bring the following skillset & experience:

  • 10+ years of relevant mainframe technical experience as a z/OS Systems Programmer.
  • 3+ years working in Services or projects, preferably in a customer-facing professional consultative capacity.
  • Expertise in storage migrations from products like CA-Disk, CA-Vantage, CA-Faver, CA-Allocate, IBM DFSMShsm, IBM DFSMSdss, IBM DFSMSacs.
  • Expertise in tape migrations from storage products like CA-1, CA-TLMS, IBM DFSMSrmm.
  • Expertise in BMC storage-related products such as FDR/FDRABR, AMI Storage, Control-M/Tape.
  • Knowledge of BMC AMI Cloud solutions and S3 storage offerings.
  • Expertise in mainframe disk and tape storage vendor hardware solutions (IBM/DELL, etc.).
  • Experience developing REXX-based solutions for validation and migration purposes.
  • Consultative skills with customers and contractors when driving deliverables and setting priorities.
  • Self-starter with a proven ability to meet assigned timelines with high-quality deliverables in unsupervised, often remote, situations.
  • Willingness to mentor and share ideas and knowledge with colleagues while promoting best practices.
  • Experience in the deployment lifecycle across multiple environments (Test, Dev, QA, and Production).
  • Demonstrated success in building key relationships with Sales, Technical Support, Application Teams, and Product Engineering.
  • Experience producing and presenting disaster recovery solutions for pre-sales purposes based on customer requirements.

Desirable Experience

  • Migration experience with automation, scheduling, Tape Management, Data Center, Storage, and DR/BC.
  • Strong experience with installing and configuring OEM software products such as BMC, IBM, and CA-Broadcom products.

The annual base salary range represents the low and high end of the BMC salary range for this position. Actual salaries depend on a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training, licensure, and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. 

The range listed is just one component of BMC's employee compensation package. Other rewards may include a variable plan and country specific benefits.

At BMC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at /near the top of the range. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $144,900 - $241,500
