Description

The Product Standards Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring all products meet Bob's quality, safety, and compliance expectations. This position partners closely with Product Development, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Merchandising and Quality teams to establish standards, conduct testing and inspections, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

This role is based in one of Bob's Distribution Centers ( Aberdeen, MD) and will require domestic and some international travel to supplier sites and manufacturing facilities. The environment is fast-paced and hands-on, with responsibilities spanning office, warehouse, and field settings.

Core Competencies & Expertise

  • Product Standards Development: Ability to establish, document, and implement quality standards, specifications, testing protocols, and inspection criteria
  • Quality Assurance & Testing: Experience conducting product inspections, analyzing results, and ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory standards
  • Regulatory & Safety Compliance: Strong understanding of applicable safety standards and ability to ensure adherence across products
  • Furniture Construction Knowledge: Expertise in case goods and soft goods, including materials, manufacturing processes, and packaging standards.  Preferred knowledge and experience in furniture electronics and electrical components.
  • Data Analysis & Problem Solving: Ability to interpret test results, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions
  • Continuous Improvement: Experience identifying quality gaps and leading improvement initiatives, including closed-loop corrective action processes
  • Supplier Quality Management: Ability to partner with suppliers, conduct audits, and ensure material and production compliance
  • Documentation & Reporting: Strong skills in maintaining detailed records and presenting quality insights to leadership

Preferred Competencies & Skills

  • Experience working with domestic and international QA/QC teams
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and tools
  • Strong project ownership and ability to manage multiple priorities

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Quality Assurance, Engineering, Product Development, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in product quality assurance, standards development, or related role within the furniture industry
  • Experience with product inspections, testing, compliance, and safety regulations
  • Proficiency in furniture manufacturing processes and quality assurance practices

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and move throughout distribution centers and stores
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. independently and up to 100 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to perform job functions in office, warehouse, and field environments

Expected Base Pay Not Including Potential Commissions, Incentive, Bonus, etc. Opportunities:

$70,000 - $80,000 annual salary (Based on experience)
