As an ML School Support Specialist, you will support and coordinate with school leaders and school personnel within their designated region in the areas of ESOL program, Dual Language, and pathways for the Seal of Biliteracy to build capacity of the school-based teams. Support compliance and student outcomes in accordance with CSUSA policies and applicable laws. Work collaboratively with CSUSA's Multilingual Learner/ELL Team by working on various initiatives to allow CSUSA managed schools to implement best practice systems and processes to ensure compliance. Initiatives may include process development, process documentation, forms development, charter application/renewal support, school support, professional development, and/or other projects upon request.

 

How You Will Impact Education

In collaboration with the CSUSA National, State and School Teams, the ML School Support Specialist will:

  • Remain informed of changes to ML federal and state laws to support school level compliance.
  • Attend conferences, trainings, and meetings regarding state, federal and local law updates and best practices for supporting special populations.
  • Attend scheduled state/district/parish trainings, professional development sessions and meetings (when allowable) to receive updates in compliance requirements to support schools.
  • Provide support for Multilingual Learner achievement through developing teacher trainings, coaching school based ML Coordinators, and assisting with implementation of Multilingual Learner plans.
  • Collaborate with school staff to develop local processes and procedures to align with state and district policies related to Multilingual Learners.
  • Provide monitoring to ensure that required meetings, evaluations and reevaluations are conducted in an accurate and timely manner at schools.
  • Support processes for ML assessments, accompanying data analysis and action planning for data -driven instruction.
  • Evaluate research-based resources and materials to support in the accomplishment of ML language acquisition goals, and report findings to the appropriate state academic team members for curriculum guide edits/additions.
  • Support in developing and adapting curriculum materials and educational practices to meet the needs of Multilingual Learners.
  • Provide professional development and training as needed for school ML teams and leadership events.
  • Collaborate and support school ML teams in building capacity of school level to meet the needs of Multilingual Learners.
  • Plan and conduct monthly PLCs with ML school support teams.
  • Review ML plans with ML school teams to guide support for Multilingual Learner achievement.
  • Provide support with language programs and initiatives such as Seal of Biliteracy, Dual Language, Immersion programs, etc.
  • Maintain alignment of ML support with the Ed Model 2.0 within the latest version of CSUSA's Education Manual.
  • Maintain alignment of ML support with strategic priorities of equitable opportunities & outcomes and teaching & learning that impact student success.
  • Collaborate with National and State teams in supporting charter application process as it pertains to meeting the needs of Multilingual Learners and compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines, rules, regulations, and law.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with State Team and National Team.
  • Travel to schools to provide support as needed.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's Degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent. Master's Degree or commensurate experience, preferred. Valid Florida teaching certificate. ESOL endorsement (current and completed). Experience with developing Multilingual Learner plans. Successful results of criminal and employment background check. Minimum of three (3) years successful teaching experience. Effective instructional delivery techniques and excellent communication skills. Adherence to the requirements of the Code of Ethics for the Education Profession. Such alternatives to the above requirements as CSUSA may find appropriate and acceptable.
