As a Payroll Specialist II, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, and supporting various payroll-related tasks and projects. This role involves managing workflow, reconciling payroll data, processing garnishments, handling tax inquiries, and providing excellent service to employees and stakeholders.

How You Will Impact Education

Instruction/Education Responsibilities

  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions, such as new hires, transfers, terminations, job changes, and retroactive transactions, are processed accurately and timely.
  • Develop, review, and run audit reports before and after payroll processing.
  • Prepare bi-weekly payroll and other functions related to payroll, including but not limited to gross pay adjustments, pro-rated leave, termination pay, and tax withholding.
  • Assist with multiple duties regarding CSUSA payroll functions within established deadlines.
  • Understand proper taxation of applicable federal and state withholding laws and employer-paid benefits.
  • Process accurate and timely quarter and year-end reporting (W-2, W-2c, etc.).
  • Perform compliance tasks for unclaimed property payroll checks.
  • Perform bi-weekly reconciliation of payroll-related tasks.
  • Maintain and manage the timekeeping system to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of employee hours, along with the timekeeping hardware system.
  • Research and email the appropriate audience regarding file issues.
  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate using reports that are in the HCM system.
  • Train other Payroll Specialists.
  • Assist with audit preparations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll and all other sensitive information.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Working knowledge of ADP Strongly Preferred
  • College Degree Preferred
  • Minimum 5 years' experience processing payroll.
  • Working knowledge of payroll best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations.
  • Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel.
  • Strong work ethic and team player.
  • High degree of professionalism.
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material.
  • Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with various levels of management.
  • Decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.
  • FPC or CPP certification preferred but not needed.
