MARKETING STRATEGY MANAGER - Product Marketing Hybrid Schedule, Los Angeles, CA. WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY? The Marketing Strategy Manager will help formulate, initiate, implement and monitor marketing, product, and digital plans and programs that support business development and strategic growth for assigned client groups. Client groups will be assigned and focused around the enterprise strategic priorities.The Marketing Strategy Manager will report to the corporate senior marketing manager, with accountability to both the senior marketing manager and the assigned divisional Executive Vice President.Working directly with the EVP and senior managers from assigned division(s), as well as support partners in Marketing, the Marketing Strategy Manager will work to drive the following objectives for client group(s): Effectively represent solutions and services for the key business areas Increase revenue and profitability by developing and implementing effective marketing strategies and programs Increase longevity and depth of client relationships Increase City National brand awareness and client segments Identify, assess, and develop marketing and product initiatives that have significant long-term growth potential What you will do

  • Working with client group leadership team, serve as the subject matter expert to effectively define and help execute the overall marketing and business development strategic initiatives for each key segment through all appropriate delivery channels in City National footprint.
  • Develop overall market positioning for client groups; develop programs to ensure consistency in delivering this position to market.
  • Develop overall marketing strategy internally and externally for each business, implement strategies as approved; monitor results, ensuring that all marketing, service and sales programs support the business goals, as well as the bank at large. Plans should define and execute tactics for attraction, acquisition, development, cross sell, and retention, while maintaining a consistency to the division and the overall bank.
  • Work closely with other colleagues to assess market segmentation and identify client, prospect and all key audiences.
  • Develop and oversee strategies and content for internal and external communications. Define value (benefit) statements.
  • Direct, create and/or manage intellectual content including content used in collateral, performance reporting, proposal systems, related websites, speeches, scripts, letters, event themes, articles, emails, direct marketing.
  • Work with the corporate marketing research team to assess market research and financial reports to identify market trends or opportunities and product/service gaps.
  • Collaborate across Marketing to leverage channel expertise in advertising, media relations, communications, events management and direct marketing, data and analytics to drive key revenue and cross-sell goals for division.
  • Work with Marketing Compliance teams to ensure legality and compliance of sales, marketing and communication tools and materials.

Must-Have*

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years working in banking or financial services industry
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a professional or corporate Marketing role

Skills and Knowledge

  • The role of the Marketing Strategy Manager is both consultative and strategic in nature and relies heavily on a balance of analytical, creative and collaboration skills.
  • Strong skills in communication, collaboration and facilitation are required.
  • Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Requires ability to effectively partner with key constituents both leading them as well as participating effectively in support.
  • Requires a track record of significant success in developing creative, solution-oriented strategies using multiple delivery channels, and in managing complex projects.
  • Must have strong computer skills - Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • MBA is preferred.
  • An extensive background and understanding of trust, investments, wealth planning, customized credit, and private banking services must be demonstrated.
  • This includes a depth of familiarity on investment compliance and regulatory standards (including bank, RIA, and brokerage).
  • A strong understanding of lending, depository and treasury management products and services that support the small and middle market business segment.
  • An understanding of regulatory issues surrounding fair lending and the sales and promotion of banking and investment products is an absolute.
Compensation Starting base salary: $111,408 - $189,738 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
