STRATEGY SENIOR MANAGER

 

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY? The Corporate Strategy team at City National Bank is responsible for setting the long-term strategic direction for the Bank and driving its highest priority strategic initiatives. The Corporate Strategy Senior Manager helps set the strategic direction for the bank and oversees the strategic planning process. This colleague provides leadership for strategic initiatives and manages a team of analysts. This colleague collaborates with the divisional executives and other cross-functional leaders to align strategies across the Bank. This colleague also leads innovation and risk management activities while ensuring the Bank's long-term growth. This colleague is a thought leader with the ability to turn vision into action, motivate others to achieve goals, and follow through on decisions.

 

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
  • Manage execution of the strategic planning process.
  • Enhance the planning process to incorporate regulatory and business requirements, ensuring coordination with financial planning, app dev planning and capital planning.
  • Acts a trusted advisor to the divisional EVPs and strategy leads on their divisional strategy creation.
  • Organize, lead, and facilitate cross-LOB initiative design and execution.
  • Work with the business to identify and prioritize new initiatives to drive business strategy, mitigate potential risks and control gaps, financial return, and/or positive client impact.
  • Manage a portfolio of strategic initiatives. Provide credible review and challenge on progress of the initiatives. Facilitate executive decisioning and escalations on the initiatives.
  • Oversee risk assessment (e.g., RiskID, RCSA, BCM) and audit of strategic planning process
  • Have a broad understanding of the banking industry and specialized understanding of a few areas.
  • Understand key metric impacting their divisions. Work with finance to provide a data based approach to understand and improve business strategy and decisions.
  • Share lessons learned and best practices with others throughout the Bank when appropriate.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across their division.
  • Mentor junior team members, including strategy analysts

 

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED? Required Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in financial services/consulting/technology or similar analytical industry
  • Minimum 10 years of experience conducting business analysis, managing complex projects and/or implementing business/technology strategy
  • Minimum 5 years of experience coordinating resources (e.g., third party vendors, FTEs, project managers)
  Additional Qualifications
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Project, and SharePoint
  • Demonstrated experience with financial services, technology, and/or strategy/management consulting preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn complex subject matter and apply understanding across different levels, from high-level concepts to low-level details.
  • Proficient working with data and conducting analysis to help guide business decision making.
  • Ability to lead organizational change and drive adoption of change management best practices– across multiple lines of business; including ability to build strong business partner relationships, training, communications and process redesign experience
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and facilitate change through collaborative efforts. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivation, discipline, focus, the ability to structure and present work. Proven record of delivering high quality results within strict deadlines.
  • Must have the ability to multitask and prioritize concurrent initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively, internally and externally, with the most senior representatives of organizations.
  • Strong project and people management experience, with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and assign work across a team or teams; provide guidance and solve complex problems faced by teams; motivate and coach colleagues with direct and indirect reporting lines; and identify and/or escalate matters and issues.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU? Compensation Starting base salary: $127,626 - $237,014 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
