GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Director of the Mayor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, helps in building analytical and planning capabilities related to the application of preparedness and operational programs. Employees of this position will focus on the analysis of risks and capabilities that are unique to the communities located within the parish, as well as the region. Work includes being familiar with the policies, programs, and issues that impact all levels of government involved in homeland security and emergency management initiatives; includes the National Incident Management System (NIMS), National Response Framework and Emergency Support Functions (ESF's), and the ability to identify gaps, redundancies, and shortfalls in planning and training. Employees also attend meetings and training sessions. The incumbent is subject to twenty-four hour call out to assist other colleagues in the event of an emergency. Performs other work as requested.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree and experience in emergency planning, management, or response work; plus experience in one Presidentially Declared Disaster.

SUBSTITUTIONS
Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS
(Unless otherwise specified below, must possess at the time of appointment and must be maintained current throughout employment in this classification.) Must have completion certificates for the following National Incident Management System courses: NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800. Must have a valid Louisiana driver's license at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment in this classification.

Hazard mitigation experience required.
