Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) is a fully integrated and progressive public transit system that provides over 60 million rides each year. Having a thorough understanding of seniors, newcomers, and disability issues, the Accessible Transit Coordinator will support and encourage persons that experience barriers using public transit.
We're looking for an Accessible Transit Coordinator to join our team at Edmonton Transit Service. This is a unique opportunity to directly impact the lives of people with disabilities, seniors, newcomers, and other community members by providing the support and training they need to achieve independent mobility with public transit. In this role, you'll be the primary contact for travel training, working with a variety of internal and external partners to enhance our services and make our transit system more accessible for everyone.
What will you do?Develop and deliver travel training programs for seniors, newcomers, and persons with disabilities, enhancing transit accessibility across conventional bus, community bus, LRT, and On Demand transit systems
Respond to inquiries from other City Departments, riders, and various partners regarding transit accessibility issues
Provide information and updates for ETS website and internal/external publications and rider tools
Provide input on ETS accessibility policies and processes
Review the design of transit facilities and vehicles from an accessibility perspective
Research and develop new and improved existing accessibility training programs and materials
Perform industry scans to identify and review industry trends and standards
Identify and implement engagement and learning opportunities for community, industry or other partners, and developing and maintaining community partnerships
Support ETS Rider Engagement outreach activations where needed
