Description

Automation and Controls Technicians collaborate with other trades to maintain the City's assets and ensure regulatory compliance. They monitor and adjust direct digital control systems for HVAC and associated building systems. This role is crucial for the environmentally responsible operation and maintenance of facility mechanical systems, aligning with organizational GHG reduction policies.

What will you do?

  • Operates mechanical/electrical systems through the use of Direct Digital Control Automation
  • Programs and schedules equipment to maximize energy conservation throughout civic buildings
  • Performs scheduled preventative maintenance, including inspecting, lubricating, diagnosing, and repairing pneumatic and electronic controls systems and mechanical components as required
  • Performs unscheduled maintenance, modification, or replacement of mechanical units, pipes, ducts, and various equipment
  • Supports various trades in HVAC equipment operation and maintenance where integration with BMS (Building Management Systems) as required
  • Performs field checks and other tasks as part of the recommissioning maintenance activities 
  • Conducts Job Hazard Assessments and ensures all relevant safety standards are maintained
  • Attends and participates in toolbox/safety meetings
  • Provides training and guidance to apprentices or junior employees
  • Communicates effectively with clients, contractors, and co-workers
  • Completes work orders assigned in a timely fashion as per KPI structure
  • Communicates to stakeholders upon arrival and before leaving work site
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
